But, I confess, I have not finished this novel. I'm not even gone very far. Because, beyond the atmosphere fairly bleak, the only mystery of the book, the one that runs the entire plot, has had no secrets for me, from the first pages. And when you still have three quarters of the book to follow the two heroes in search of answers, well, you do not keep long.
And I am highly disappointed. Because I expected this novel forward. Yet from the beginning, I struggled. Is this the part? The characters? Rhythm? Maybe a little of all three. I have not found in The Secret of the inventor, this pen that had charmed me so much in Nightshade. Here the style is heavy. The pace is bland, the characters stereotyped. The clues left right left on Grave are too simple. And if, like me, you have quick mind, very quickly you guess what it is.
Nevertheless, this novel is not bad. It has flaws, it is undeniable. But fans of steampunk should find happiness here. Meanwhile, if you want to discover the pen of Andrea Cremer, Nightshade rather trying. You will not regret it, I'm telling you!
