The change from Drobo 4 on the new generation was worth it: Fast, secure (so far). The old Drobo (with FireWire), the start time of the MacPro delayed enormously. Since the new Drobo 5D the Mac is ready to use. Also, adding new plates no longer means hours of formatting and turning over the existing data. Unfortunately, with 5 plates even at rest when the computer is off quite loud part.
