Miles at the Fillmore: Miles Davis 1970 (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Actually, this publication does not fit into the bootleg series, because the images are not amateur recordings or copies of broadcasters, but Columbia was in the "Fillmore" locally and Teo Macero has produced. As if the makers of the CD series entitled "Bootleg Series" justice, they have added 3 more titles and that of 11 April 1970 (each on CD 1 and CD 3); and this sound quality is indeed "bootleg" and almost painfully lo-fi. But at least one can thus a version of "Footprints" by the way "Footprints on LSD" get heard, what is interesting.
The Fillmore music have to like: I personally am not always agree with the understudy Jarrett / Corea, it often creates a mushy and the exuberant way of using the Ring Modulator ekzessiv often acts more as an effect than it really in the music integrated seem. Another aspect that is immediately striking absence of Wayne Shorter. Steve Grossman just falls heavily on against the brilliant presence and musical creative power of Shorter. Just compare the Fillmore recordings from March 7, 1970 Shorter with those present here.
The music is completely remixed. I do not know whether I really like, to my ears it sounds through audible and transparent, but also smooth and slightly aloof, the DSD Remaster 2006 I liked better: bolder and crisper bass and pressure. But that is also unfortunately known cut version.
