After a long break finally came a new Final Fantasy game on the market, and with it came the latest soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu. And what he has done thus provides somanchen other soundtrack in the shadows. (However, he is no better than Final Fantasy VI and VIII!) The melodies and the way he wrote the music are completely new. He also has more set to electronic synthesizer sounds, although it was in the previous parts otherwise, but was in Final Fantasy VI, for example, more elements of classical music used (for example, Opera or Tina, are typical classical melodies) whereas the pieces in FF VII a unique electronic touch (cf.. JENOVA, One- Winged Angel, Crazy Motorcycle or Hurry!). However, this fits perfectly with the game and does not annoy the listener and, as with many other game soundtracks. The Main Theme is here less successful, as the main theme (the piece is called Main Theme of FF VII) only a few times in the game occurs. As with any of the Final Fantasy OST's there are two independent threads that run through the entire game. In this case, these are Aerith's Theme and Sephiroth's Theme. (These two form the matrimonial Main Themes, the second seems much more insistent.) Despite some weaknesses you should spend the money on this CD entirely.
