As a longtime avid Final Fantasy players know and I also have the soundtrack. Since I am a collector, I naturally bought the limited version. Visually it does make a very noble and successful impression. The packaging is to be considered high-quality and beautiful. The same applies to the CDs, which are decorated with Render images of the main characters. Also on the CD sleeve itself contains render images. This exclusive art book included more render images (and scenes) as well as some Konzeptzeichungen. The soundtrack itself: Since I could already play a few hours before the Japanese version, some pieces of music from the beginning of the game were already known to me. However, I must say that I was a little disappointed after I had listened to the complete soundtrack. By this I do not at all say that the songs are bad. In itself seen most of them are consistent and match (as far as I've played). However, there are two aspects that I compared with their predecessors - especially FF X and FF X-2 - miss. On the one hand this is the variety. The Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack sounds very monotonous as a whole, because most of the songs are very similar when it comes to style. So far, there was always a lot of different styles; especially I miss those "action ends staging" titles such as "Launch", "Otherworld" (both FF X) or "The Bevelle Underground" (FF X-2). In addition, I am missing something, the poignant pieces such as "To Zanarkand" (FF X), "Eternity" (FF X-2) or "Windcrest" (FF X-2 International). Furthermore, it lacks the OST of FF XIII to earwigs. The predecessors always found tracks that the player remained in the memory, such as the Battle Theme of FF X, "One Winged Angel" (FF VII) or the Main Theme of FF XII.
Since the OST refers to the Japanese version of the game, the ballad "Kimi ga iru kara" by Sayuri Sugawara as the theme is. In the versions for the rest of the world instead, "My Hands" by Leona Lewis used. Although the title is not bad enough high not manage to connect Sugawara's ballad.
Conclusion: The soundtrack to Final Fantasy XIII is a beautiful and well-sounding album of classical and orchestral music. However, for Final Fantasy ratios lacks variety and also catchy titles.
