Believe it or not, we had to wait all this time to finally have a first record of opus 15 quartets by Boccherini! It is true that the provision of partial partitions had made the arduous task so far. It is through the joint work of musicologist Castellani and Giuliano Alea young quartet that this lack catalog is repaired.

It is considered that Boccherini was with Haydn, the inventor of the genre quartets. He also composed 91 some with two cellos, constantly seeking new forms and trying out various combinations.

Opus 15 was composed entirely in 1772 but published only in 1851 by Louis Picquot to Paris.Il consists exclusively of short pieces of ten minutes each, in two movements. The music is lovely there, often dancing and listening with real pleasure even if we still very far from the genius of Haydn, inventiveness of Mozart and Beethoven revolution on the horizon.

The interpretation of the quartet Alea calls only praise the same as those already harvested during their recording of quartets opus 2 which were the subject of multiple awards.
