"Finding nothing but Questions and Devils"

Incredibly strong album of Papa Roach with which they quite rightly celebrated her international breakthrough, even if they only had the luck with "Infest", at a time in which the Nu Metal literally dominated the world to meet the nerve of time. Really everyone knew the first single "Last Resort" and everyone liked them. There was a huge buzz around the band (which had previously been very active over the years, but it is equally unknown) to yourself as a woman Gaga could no longer imagine today.
As for me personally, it was the time around the turn of the millennium in which I met with Papa Roach and in my life changed. I started self-critical and to think more realistically and precisely for this reason was "Infest" an album that hit me like a thunderbolt and encouraged me to think the social criticism and personal lyrics so for like no other before. It was the first album that immediately after the first listen to me from scratch liked and no weaknesses revealed then. It was for my youth an incredibly important album and even today, after the Nu Metal is history and my musical world has changed, the board has lost none of its intensity, strength, authenticity and ingenuity.
Papa Roach invented nothing new with "Infest". The Nu Metal style, which was obviously influenced by bands like Rage Against The Machine, Faith No More, Helmet, etc., you already knew from other bands. Added to this was that they be in some songs clearly riffs of Iron Maiden "borrowed" (Last Resort Ghengis Khan =, Angels & Insects = Prowler). But the band had that certain something, these depressive authenticity that gives all the songs the enormous strength, so that it would have been unfair to brand as average crossover band.

"Infest" goes right straight forward, hard riffs alternate with extremely distorted passages and give the song incredible atmosphere. Plus the extremely critical text about the problems of society ("What is wrong with the World today? The government, the media, or your family?") That complete the perfect song. 5/5

"Last Resort" is of course still at concerts of Aufräumer par excellence, and manage the biggest hit of the band, even if the Mainriff of Iron Maiden is stolen ;-). Lyrically it's about a young man who has lost his will to live and wants to call it quits. 5/5

"Broken Home" is the second single and an extremely depressed held piece which deals with the subject fatherless. Unbelievable how empathetic Jacoby Shaddix recites the lyrics with other bands a song would be so embarrassed when Papa Roach, it is excellent. 5/5

"Dead Cell" is indeed a very typical nu metal song, but just as a blast in which the band during the chorus when it comes to riffing and screams seem to explode outright. 5/5

In "Between Angels and Insects" can Papa Roach lyrics take it even with RATM, so standardization is denounced by the popular culture and mass consumption ("There`s no money, there`s no possession, only obsession. I do not need that shit ! "). Musically the song contains no weaknesses, even if (or perhaps because) the band has again operated at Iron Maiden :). 5/5

"Blood Brothers" is one of the rough rockendsten numbers of Papa Roach ever. First, the danceable salsa beginning turns into a real firecracker. Again, the issue of violence in the Arm is considered extremely critical. 5/5

"Revenge" has the bassigsten and brutal riffs and is built in the Rappassagen like a reggae song, which built up an atmosphere that can not even make the unnecessary hip hop beat in the middle part broken. 5/5

"Snakes" is still such a rough rocker in which the band one can not take a break. The song is about sneaky friends, can be exploited and then a fall. 5/5

"Never Enough" is compared to the previous song again a little more personal and is about someone who is totally dissatisfied with his life. 4/5

"Binge" deals with the topic and the alcoholism relapse after initial improvement. Jacoby's song is here clearly at the peak and the very melancholy riffs underscore this, so that a very hopeless atmosphere is created that fascinates. 5/5

"Thrown Away" is fully convinced of the heaviest song on the album with the bolzenden riffs, a catchy chorus and a text about a mentally disturbed. 5/5

"Tight Rope" comes as a hidden track after "Thrown Away" and is therefore so noteworthy because it. As Reaggaeartige ballad with very depressive lyrics over a degenerate in violence and drug company, the album closes perfectly A peaceful conclusion to a hard, brilliant album 5/5

"Infest" is and will remain Papa Roach's best record. Every song on this album is one of the best they have had in their entire career. After this album the band started to distance themselves from the Nu Metal by singer Shaddix put aside the black horse and it stopped singing while the pace was significantly reduced. Meanwhile the boys have arrived at the alternative rock / metal and long no longer so successful. Finally, the Nu Metal is now also perished, and seemingly irrelevant to today's music. But this album is a shining relic of the time and will never be meaningless. Never Papa Roach were both musically and lyrically as much as on this album and that is why there are of course a perfect score and a clear recommendation to buy.
