Delivered, the chic, high-gloss hard drive enclosure in sturdy box with a power supply and a USB3 cable. It is only a printed description of the first terminal in the box, the actual manual is stored as a PDF file on the hard disk. This manual should really read, because only then become apparent to users the specifics of this plate: Attached is a program for backing up, formatting, the power saving mode and the password protecting the drive in Windows and Mac. With the installation of this program and the driver is installed. If you use the drive without this driver is angemeckert of Windows on every system start, the absence of this software. If the Autostart function in Windows is active, the panel software starts by itself and informed about their options.
The password for the access protection you should remember. If you forget it, the data will be lost. However, it is an indication word available.
The 2TB specified mean 1,8TB payload, which is ok. Filling via USB3 goes afloat vonstatten, the interface was going faster than my internal data transfer, so that the full power has not yet been exhausted. But even without USB3 the plate acts afloat. After the transfer of 260GB at a time the plate was not noticeably warm outside, so it is quite suitable for continuous operation. She is quietly at rest. File accesses to small files you can hear faint clacking through what I personally regard as positive (the drive is still alive), but sensitive ears, it may interfere.
Only criticism: Formatting the drive software will be deleted. Where the restore gets is the manual that you have just deleted.
Addendum dated 1.12.2010
After installing the driver for the hard disk, which should cause particular password protection, were sporadic crashes on (blue screen) of my computer. An update of the driver not only brought no improvement, but the crashes piling up of 1 times in 8 hours 3 times per hour. I have uninstalled the driver again, since there are no more problems. To really get rid of the driver, you have to uninstall it as usual, then go down the computer and leave it off at least 20-30 seconds. This is from the protected disk a normal hard disk with no special features.
Conclusion: a star deduction.
