Face Noir (computer game)

Customer Review

What should I write this? The game "Face Noir" I liked very well and basically you can actually only express praise. The atmosphere is convincing and really serves all clichés of film noir style. A minimalist, smoky detective agency in a seedy side street of a major American city in the 30's; a somber mood at night and rain; dark figures; mafia machinations; the typical droves private detective who extended monologues leads with itself and its only true philosophy of life is to be found at the bottom of a whiskey glass.

"Face Noir" is a dark crime thriller as it is in the book and which for a long time left on earth. Only far end of the game to reveal events that seem to grow on the head and his mind also the main protagonists. The end comes as a "to be continued" therefore. The immediate events that take place throughout the game are solved and completed by the end, but the big, underlying, the apparent first cause for all happenings, remains open and is not elucidated. The common thread goes clearly beyond the end of the game also. But here already show shortly after the closing credits, the developer more than clear that a sequel will come, which continues the story. Now I hope you can keep this promise and that the sequel can not be long in coming for too long.

The background music is aptly and contributes to mood and 30s flair decisively and in a melancholy manner at. You can feel downright depressed mood of the Great Depression the background against which the action takes place. The setting moves at a good level, but comes in a few positions within dialogs times the sound. However, this is more than twice in the game, which is why this is negligible. The game time is neat with 15 to 20 hours and also ensures that "Face Noir" worth every penny. That control the inventory is cumbersome, as some claim, I can not confirm. I think the Inventory navigation pretty good and otherwise control is mature. The puzzles are challenging and sometimes really tricky, but still fair and logical at all times.

The only real drawback of the game is the graphical resolution. The game only supports a full-screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels. Here really needs to be asked what the developers wanted to achieve with it in 2012, in an era of HD. One can also set a higher resolution, which the graphic is also sharper then, however, the picture is then no longer displayed in full screen and is completely surrounded by a black, wide frame. Especially for owners of modern 16: 9 and 16:10 screens, this fact is likely an extremely negative consequence. For me it did fortunately still limited, since I still have a 19 "TFT with 4: 3 aspect ratio dispose Therefore, this shortcoming can not act quite so hard with me, as with some other players..

In conclusion I can therefore respect "Face Noir" personally speak of a very good game that has truly inspired me. I hope that the matter will be resolved with the resolution on the 2nd part and that this otherwise continues the 1st part as exciting and at a high level. We can look forward.
