The filters are an activated carbon filter and a HEPA filter. Unfortunately Fellowes does not waive the Sanitized layer that not only is totally absurd in my opinion, but also worsens the air. In any normal household clean a Sanitized layer is necessary. The company fellows would be well advised to offer activated carbon filter without Sanitized. Especially for people with allergies and sensitive people that would be advantageous.
An odor (filter?) I could find in my small hall, the housing does not smell, it is virtually no plastic smell detectable. Quite unlike the Fellowes AeraMax DX5 air purifier, small.
Back to filter. The operation is as bie most air purifiers, manually adjustable, as applicable in the auto mode. The Auto Mode detects the air pollution and adjusts itself accordingly, ie it regulates the fan.
The volume is only in Turbo mode quite noisy, otherwise I find the air purifier relatively quiet.
Operation is simple, the filter change also. The manual is adequate and easy to understand. The design is a little dowdy, but not annoying. The housing is made of hard plastic.
The cleaning performance is 0.3 microns, which corresponds to the performance of most devices in this price range. The Blueair air purifier 203 (NP: ca 300) filters particles of 0.1 microns, ie three times. In addition, he has no Sanitized layer or other chemical additives, and the filter medium is made of non-toxic polypropylene. Since the extra cost is worth in my eyes anyway!
Anyone looking for a really good air purifier, should look at the Blueair air purifier 503 or the Blueair 603 (approx 700). This is not comparable in price, but is well and accordingly are * usually far in tests of AHAM forward.
Anyone looking for a good activated carbon filter, should the Carbon Active Filter 300m³ odor filter carbon filter AKF Grow (colid = MU76E5U0YLYQ & coliid = I1N9JGMF2BO00K) view.
Consideration must be given follow-up costs. The filter must be changed regularly. Therefore, the filter runs with me only when necessary, for example if I have to close the windows.
Conclusion: The air purifier operates its price range according. We deduct that Fellowes only the filter with the Sanitized layer
offering.
I vacillate 3-4 stars, because the air purifier has yet to prove itself.

Update April '14
Meanwhile, I like the air purifier quite liked. He is a teetotaler * gg *, ie it reacts to alcohol. Whether it is a window cleaner, or a glass of wine near him, his response is always the same: Stage red!
In addition, he often turns a night with the windows open. Since I am still pondering what might trigger the (humidity?).
Anyway, apart from the layer Sanitized I find the air purifier in this price range not bad.
