Bill Withers probably know more than most songwriters ("Lean On Me", "Is not No Sunshine"), rather than as performers. This live recording from October '72 from Carnegie Hall can be the change yes. Apart from the songs already mentioned Withers has here among many others, a beautiful version of "Friend Of Mine" and a swinging "Use Me". Unfortunately missing "Lovely Day" and "Just The Two Of Us", but there was at the time also did not! And who is looking for comparisons: It seems easiest to Bill Withers called black version of JJCale, only these are of course to find its roots in the Soul. But just relaxed and unpretentious come over his songs and his stage show. Conclusion: Just the right music for a relaxed Sunday breakfast (but not vor 12 clock)!
