Heaven, the single released to scout it a few weeks ago is not as impressed as it had been before the album Wrong Sound of Universes which ultimately had disappointed many. A sluggish delivery, stodgy with no strong and inspired songs whose sound research and other electronic hacks fell more cosmetic than artistic issues.
Here it seems that it is just the opposite.
Delta Machine is the fountain of youth as hoped.
An album not necessarily obvious at first listen. This famous first listening where one watches the tube, the lead track, the "Strange Love", the "Enjoy The Silence", the "Stripped" IL Yet there are at least 4 hiding.
For me, that is the 3 rd plays, they jumped me. That's it, you're having fun with this delicious worship as the group and can still offer you the song, or songs that let you go more.
In opening, Welcome To My World, a kind of granular during World in my eyes Violator.
There My little Universe, stripped, which would push the radical electro Violator experience even further. Cheeky.
Should Be Higher, probably the best track on the album, which from the raw synthetic waves intro gives you goosebumps. It is well in the universe Depeche Mode.
Alone, Soothe My Soul
Martin Gore had not lied announcing color as what Delta machine would try to return to their 1990 masterpiece.
Alan Wilder who scored in both of his influence on his DM is present here. So it is not dead it's not his ghost that haunts the Delta Machine settings but still an influence of this musician who himself had been marked by Philip Glass and to Black Celebration, Music For The Masses and therefore had Violator feed compositions M.Gore.
There is talk also of another obvious influence, Songs For Faith And Devotion where these blues and electro accents dotting all. This famous 90-degree turn of the group at the time that had baffled by many.
It is as if the ambition for Depeche Mode had been here for Delta Machine, reconcile two types of listeners; Those who had a little drop the case after the departure of Alan Wilder Ultra before and who had not especially appreciate this new vain heavy blues rock guitar and having invaded their songs.
Nostalgic for the first time until its peak with Violator therefore should be picked.
The wealth of inspiration, the melodies, the voice of Dave Gahan who seems to have back 30 years, all that energy deployed here are impressive, as everything seems simple, clear, easy.
A song about, Broken, not to mention, low titer stuck between other Delta Machine is a beautiful spring gift for that group that never ceases to hand with disconcerting simplicity, the record straight where so many others take foot in the son.
