It seems to insinuate currently modern Coldplay greed, Massenanbiederung and calculation. I speak not of "old" fans (in this case I am referring to the first two albums) which may rightly be one pretends that Coldplay no longer sound as before, but by the popular belief of news and music magazines. I could not understand the charge already in connection with the first single "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall". Now I am a trained listeners and quite Indie (to use this trite cliche), but a deliberate "commercial" hit I have not heard since. Where is this song that has grown rapidly over the months, please the chorus? The album is similar: Of course, the often quoted wide, zugkleisterte sound as you would expect it from Eno. Behind it I find many great songs and melodies that could have been much more effective mass can produce ... Is it "commercially" Chris Martin's voice, almost the identification Coldplay, sharply increasing in many songs? Is it "commercial" include three tracks that consist of 30 seconds sound message scraps? And where the hell were the old hits "Yellow" or "In My Place" uncommercial?
Here is the question Mainstream vs. Indie Art eh unnecessary. Elsewhere it is much more relaxed at this thing. Decisive but is good or bad or 'likes and dislikes.
I like the new Coldplay and indeed much better than the previous album. Because the sound is even more gigantic and because it shows behind it clearer songs than on large parts of "Viva la vida". The current single "Paradise", most likely the predestined hit. The wonderful ballad "Us Against The World", at the Martin allowed to sing in the foreground times and virtually rare sounds. "Hurts Like Heaven" and "Charlie Brown" - despite the changed Sounds typical but Coldplay. Even the much maligned piece with Rihanna ("Princess of China") I find kind of cool, because just not totally counterintuitive. Total catchy and commercially was Rihanna's duet with Eminem ... and surprise, surprise, also may be found well, if you will.
Overall, I find "Mylo Xyloto" varied, full of energy, covered bombastic and yet touching.
