"The Works" is because the sum of hard work, but wanted to Queen again to say who in the harsh world chart (their last single "Back Chat" 1982 ended up actually only on the # 40 in the UK). The result is a short, sometimes almost cool album that the fighting man vs. Machine theme. The first single, "Radio Ga Ga" was equal to a perfect taste. The song, which dates back to Roger Taylor's young son (who openly and honestly "Radio Ka Ka" said), landed in the UK charts in second place, but was able to secure the top position in other regions. The subsequent singles established themselves as immortal Queen hits - "I Want To Break Free", another big hit from the pen of John Deacon, scored his video (the band disguised as women, Freddie sinnigerweise still with his mustache) for a Prohibition in the United States and gave Queen a never properly healed lull when it came to the charts in the States - "It's A Hard Life", a great composition Mercury on the difficult love life with an opulent video - and "Hammer To Fall", a Another uncompromising rockers Brian May, the sounds fresh and powerful today.
Amazingly, with this album, not least the fact that all the songs (nine, to be exact) were published on the relevant singles, if not as an A-side, then stop the B-side. So one could argue that only hits are available here. "Tear It Up" for example, a May-song with concise drums, or "Man On The Prowl", a wonderful tribute to the good old 50s, remembers well on "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and actually the fifth and final should be singles of the album, but until you decided to use the non-album track "Thank God It's Christmas". Climax and actual theme song is "Machines (or 'Back To Humans'), the well is said fighting man vs. machine in scene and is at once the first May / Taylor composition under Queens." Keep Passing The Open Windows "is a winged Mercury song that was written for the movie "The Hotel New Hampshire" - surprisingly Queen should deliver an entire soundtrack for this film, but left then but only "Keep Passing" The end of the album forms "Is This. The World We Created ...? ", an almost unytpischer Queen song that made at Live Aid in 1985 for a goosebumps moment.
This 2011-Deluxe version offers the album now fit the famous Super Jewel Case (which, however, remains highly vulnerable to visible damage) and slightly extended booklet (the extension expresses the bonus songs on some additional images and the familiar explanations) , About the bonus XP you can of course return to fight. Presented first the B-side of "Radio Ga Ga", the merry May-Rocker "I Go Crazy" by the rest of the band did not want to have on the album. Most of the song is seen as the best B-side of Queen, I can quite join in the rejoicing choir but not, although the song has quite a bit playful, but looks a little messy. Additionally, there is the "Headbanger's Mix" of "Hammer To Fall" (and delivers exactly what already promises to the title) and two live recordings from Rio, "It's A Hard Life" and "Is This The World We Created. ..? " - Nice shots, you certainly want to hear often times. Downright pointless, however, are the single version of "I Want To Break Free" (which is already on Greatest Hits II are) and "Thank God It's Christmas", in which is brazenly certifies in the booklet, that this is the first time that the song on an album is - overlooked we now times "Greatest Hits III" and even extra for this song published Best Of album of the same name, released in Brazil. It is so much of the Works era which finally wants to the greater light; Extended versions of almost every song, very good official remixes (eg from "Hammer To Fall"), not least never materialized or later solo processed demo tapes as "Love Kills", "Man Made Paradise" and "There Must Be More To Life Than This ", which later all Freddies solo songs were, but had its roots in Queen.
"The Works" is a great (but too short) album, a perfect blend of hard rock and pop, loud guitars and synthesizer. Only the bonus EP could have been refilled with what felt like fifty far more interesting things.
