I own the Wii U Mario Kart 8 Bundle for about 1 month and think it's time to write a review. The last console I bought a Xbox 360 been what has been going industrious 7 years doing its job. Thus, it serves more or less as a reference. I am very happy with the Xbox, however, there is a non-peaceful development at Microsoft and Sony, which is apparently exacerbated by the release of the next generation: A growing number of AAA titles are local only in single player playable. I think that's a shame because for me is a console actually a multiplayer platform for local fun. So without further ado Microsoft and Sony are left behind and secured me this bargain! For under 300 gets a Wii U with all sorts of accessories and two games (Mario Kart and after registering yet another DLC). So Console + two per controller ordered a few buddy invited (one has a Wii and has brought a Wii-Mote as Wii accessories is 100% compatible with the Wii U) and go! After unpacking my high-gloss finish can be only negative attention, but also after 4 weeks they still scratch free and does extremely well in addition to a high-gloss black also flat. But the gamepad and the controller would have been better in my opinion can keep matt black. After an update and configuration time by approximately 10 minutes, it finally went off, and that neatly! Ahead was already known that the graphics performance would roughly correspond to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but nevertheless sees Mario Kart 8 good! Would be really been not matter, because the Gamplay simply is awesome. Following the motto "Je-more-the-better" it comes with up to 4 players in local multiplayer on the road, in the air and head for victory and just great fun! Since now four weeks we regularly play Mario Kart and it is every time a Grant for fun. However, one should not forget that the Wii U is designed to appeal more to a younger clientele, what one remembers design language in points menu. That does not bother me further, but an option to off or over several child-friendly features would not be bad. Now to the actual highlight of the Wii U: The gamepad. As I said, it really would not have had to be high-gloss, but that's OK. Also, it is remarkably well in hand. Nevertheless, I find it unnecessary! The stream of the image is quite nice, will probably find no use in me. Also, I have not played a game in which the pad brings a real playful advantage. It acts often placed and the battery lasts only 4 hours. In addition, there will always be switched on automatically when the console starts up, and can also be manually switched off not again. There is only one option to turn the screen off. Is also disturbing that the pad was compulsively integrated into the control of the home menu. It is needed, for example for the settings and managing profiles, what I can not quite understand.
Conclusion: The Wii U is fun, whether young or old and so far tested games were all super suitable Multiplayer. In addition, the online service is completely free of charge (sorry, that one has to mention that) and Nintendo games are not fragmented into hundreds of DLCs as on other platforms, but are almost exclusively offered as a complete game. Only on the gamepad you could have the benefit of the price, without.
