I am an amateur photographer and use a Canon 5D Mk 2 and flashes to lighten even in sunlight. Because of the remote control, I ordered the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT.

Positive struck me:
* Extremely good workmanship and haptic
* Compared to the Canon Speedlite 580EX II exemplary simple operation with softkeys, a reading the manual is superfluous.
* Very good display; can be to read under sunlight
* Light angle now to 200 mm
* Color Correction Gelfilterhalter

Neutral:
* The quality of light and flash output are largely identical to the Canon Speedlite 580EX II.

Negatives:
* High price

Conclusion:
In my hands is for portraits, the light quality without modifier with a Metz 58AF (for secondary reflector) or Quantum Qflash Trio (flash lamp scatters light in all directions) better.
Due to the high price I had a better light quality expected.
