Game well - around it a disaster

Since "Colin McRae 2.0" I play this series with great enthusiasm. And to make it equal times to anticipate: The actual game is also really good. The graphics are fantastic, the control precision and there is really enough tracks and cars.

Then why only one star?

Until one time comes to play, is a pleasure it usually passed. To install the game can take 2-3 hours easy. It is thought the installer had crashed, but the installation bar moves then still with so about 5 pixels / 10 minutes further. So plan a time to install the game. It does not always take so long, but according to research at Google, it is probably not an isolated case with me. A lack of hardware it is probably not (Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit, 8 GB RAM, Core i7 CPU, SSD, ATI HD7870, Plextor DVD).

Are the endless hours of installing finally passé one looks forward to playing the game. But wait! First a Windows Live Create account! If you already have one, then you can use the course. But it need not be that the game does the account. Sign in to Games for Windows Live online browser worked wonderfully. But Dirt 3 was for days think that my password is incorrect.
You can also play without registration, but then no progress will be saved. Furthermore, crashes with me the Games for Windows Live at * any * Start reproducibly and thus offset the Dirt 3 first to windowed mode. A standard handle after the start of the game is therefore always ALT-Return (back to full screen).

Like I said, the actual content of the game is good - but the menus in between are pretty annoying. My "colleagues" in the game talk constantly around - and you can not turn off too. Constantly animates something to do in a community: "Put your success online", "Poste these drift at Youtube", etc. Maybe I am having more than 30 years, of this series for over 10 years but also plays simply no longer the in the target group.

I play rally games, because I want to just have no community. I do not want a traditional race with opponents (either on- or offline), no ghost cars, I want my success not post on Youtube, I just want to turn my lonely rounds in my rally car. That's all. And Dirt 3 sets a really many obstacles in the way to just exactly reach. That is too bad. After I bought Dirt 3 without a test, I'll probably be much more careful next part series.

A recommendation to the producers: The graphics and controls maintained, throw away all the other stuff around it. Not the menu needs to look good, and the speakers are unnecessary. The game is, that matters. And that must be accessible!
