After unpacking and turning I was quite impressed: the device makes a high quality impression and fits comfortably in your hand. Control via the side buttons and the small joystick right above the display is working quite well so far. The display is indeed only monochrome but ok. The enclosed operating instructions for the device is not very helpful - so I found me a somewhat detailed from the Internet.
After a short training period, I then loaded two geo-caches from the Internet and have gone off with my new equipment to find these. This was nevertheless more difficult than expected. The eTrex 10 has practically no map (apart from an extremely rough map of the world with large cities). So you can not oriertieren on roads, trails or lakes, as they are not shown. Although it's own location and the specified destination appears - whether in between but an insurmountable river or not, know only A local. So it is worthwhile to explore the area previously at home, for example with Google Earth and save the photographic Gedächnis (Alternative: print map and take).
The eTrex 10 has then led me with the usual accuracy of my waypoints - here there was nothing to complain about. The battery also showed after 5 hours operation is still the "full" charge on.
After that was for me the test of the eTrex 10 then comes to an end, because without card makes me such a device is not fun. Probably I'm already too spoiled by my car navigation but I miss the color representation of streets and other landmarks too much to be permanently happy with the device. For those purists who want to be based only on GPS coordinates / can, the device is certainly a good choice. For people like me that's otherwise good device unfortunately unsuitable.
