Completely new is not even on this CD. Fleas bass is maybe something more present than they were last on "Stadium Arcadium". One might think, to feel the lack of influence of John Frusciante, its tendency to unusual effects and soundscapes, but which can also be pure imagination. Josh Blade Hoffer does its job well, but he also fits so harmoniously into the belt structure one that most listeners probably will not notice that here is a new guitarist at work. I also had an immediate, two favorites ("Factory Of Faith", "Brendan's Death Song") and one or two tracks that I liked less ("The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie", "Dance, Dance, Dance"), but which can change again next week already, because until then I had heard a dozen times more the CD.
The Chili Peppers have accomplished a feat that only very few bands succeed: They have constantly evolved and have remained true anyway. And quite incidentally, they have helped to shape the soundtrack for a whole generation crucial.
