Here I have my review again hinkopiert because I had actually reviewed the Special Edition.
I think, should I change my opinion even talk back without copy only the Special Edition Part.

So I must tell you one thing, people: I am a GoW freak.
I love all the parts of this series. For me there is no better game in the world than the GoW parts - not even (Warning!) Uncharted or Dead Space - so hot I think the Games. Because the games for me are more than just battles and killing, but because it comes to a great story.
And in my other reviews I've written that I'm just a big effort to deliver feedback, when the product is very bad or very good. And here it is again the case - the game is bombastic!
That is why I have listed a few points for you who may purchase or for you (to) mislead games.

STORY
GoW: Ascension is the prequel to all parts until now. It tells how Kratos seeks the truth. Because he is constantly plagued by visions. He gets support from Orkos, the son of Ares. The story thus still plays for the lifetime of Ares (even if this does not occur). More can or I should not say to the story.
Stands on some forums that spews no gods and that history does not exist. All I read before I bought the game.
But how can I say "no" only to GoW? So as soon as I have through gambled it possible and I must say it is quite a story there (of course, all over a story in it, but I mean that it is quite good and is not easily told in passing). Although I wished that some more history exists and some more drama, so as in part 1, when he had to stop thinking about the temple and its reputation to Ares.
Anyway, here more history as the in GoW 3 - after all, it was because only to the Abmetzeln.

GRAPHICS
The graphics are simply bombastic. The designs just 1A. When Kratos is somewhere, where there is also a huge building or monument is located, you can see through the Zoom Out of the camera as mikrig Kratos only in contrast.
This is also typical of GoW. He runs a bridge along, the image zooms out - and one thinks "oahh crass".
What I also find very cool when Kratos uses such as magic, because the image zooms to him (and depending on whether he has already swung the blade or not, you can see him covered in blood) and sees his aggressive grimace ^^ something impressed hold me :)
There are many places and places where you can admire the graphics. But there are also places where you say, this graph originates still determined from GoW II. For example, there was a scene where there Kratos Calliope (his daughter) saw to sleep. As he walked towards her, one saw made her hair very pixelated and bad. Also in the level in which you are on the snowy mountains where you have to control the snakes, you could see a lot of raw or poorly edited video sites.

ATMOSPHERE
Every now and then comes an atmosphere a little bored before, because a time nothing happens long. For impress the images (as mentioned above). Throughout the gameplay you do not feel much of Kratos, only that he is "struck" that he lacks something that he is looking for the truth, but during the video sequences not a bit of anger, rage, vengeance.

ACOUSTICS
Kratos has a new German voice. Have read many negative reviews, but I must say the voice sounds much better. Aggressive, harder during my out Part 1 & 2 (do not know if he already had another in 3 also) something Softig occurred in some places. In the beginning it is a matter of taste, and later habituation thing. The music is not much different than in the other parts, the typical gow sounds have been preserved and some new ones were also, for example, in Kira (the village), where Arab melodies came before (now could not decode up exactly where Kira should be located or had - I type something in the North African region, Egypt, Morocco, because there are also elephant monsters before, who fit into the image of Greece not quite ... I think ^^ also came the rumor to GoW 3 get out that he then wanted to make Egyptian gods).
For noise, a negative point: despite Hab update late game noticed some sound errors. For a fraction of a second, the sound skipped.
Clear does not want to be that, but I had not really too bothered (maybe came the 3 - 5x ago)

CONTROL
The control has already a little changed, but because of new features.
It is not so that you can still at the old controls dranhängt and not get here on the row. You can learn to deal with it quickly. In addition, there are things like the Circle button, with which you are entering and thus can disarm opponents. I am also at the moment not sure if the predecessor with R1 also someone could be used in: / (and I forget as GoW Freak - shame !!).
Weak I found the evasive maneuver. Maybe it was just me, but if I wanted to roll away before a horde of enemies, I never came almost out what actually always worked well with the predecessors. Speaking of opponents dodge: While you can still protect themselves from attacks by 'blocks with the Blades of Chaos, but you can not parry. Anyway, not only with simple block. One must zusätlich press nor the X button, you will see a white semicircle and when the exact moment someone strikes, parry comes about.

OPPONENTS
In the opponents I'm disagree, what should I make of it.
Positives: The Furies come often before, to fight several times against them, which I think is also very cool - because if an important opponent is, you have to edit it and then this never resurfaces, which is a bit dull. Characterless. What very me - but really - surprised and "happy" made, were the Gorgons :) if you have made it so ready, that the red dot shone on them, then it is best to engage with R1 after them. The following is a kind quick-time sequence, except that you no longer have to press keys displayed, but can strike itself. However, one must also be careful because they can while using the Gorgon glance, which one should of course avoid. If this sequence is completed, then comes a little crass scene. And just as it happens with the elephants gizmos.
The bosses were also very well designed. Especially the thing at the beginning. Where you against this mighty infected (do not know if that will be a Titan) must fight - which is also typical of GoW: At first always direct against something exaggerated fight :) (better that way, because is my uncle on the x Box side stands, happy if I can just show him the spot as soon as he visited me haha).
Negatives: There were far too many different opponents. I think in any other GoW there were so many kinds of enemies. This has annoyed me. It seemed all mixed up. Besondes when you have to fight against a whole horde, since then appeared the goats Köppe (satyrs - or written) on the sirens, all the time shooting with flash, then Talos (stone statues), then Gorgons, then the spirits and then and and and.
Everything seemed much too confusing, you did not even know where one was trying to find himself somewhere in the corner through the roll away.
Even with one of the goddesses of revenge has anything quite disturbed: her idiotic gold / blue Firebird. In fighting that looked way too colorful, but something from. That did not seem like GoW, beautifully gloomy, but more like Final Fantasy or Devil May Cry (or as the all hot, these things hold, of which I let the fingers).
Next time I'd rather make a few standard opponents less pure and the more gods or other formidable bosses :) because GoW I love especially for the large Quick Time Events, which you have to destroy something enormous.

MYSTERY
So that Ascension virtually has no mystery is wrong.
This part has enough riddles, which also surprised me because you III so few got to see in GoW. I'm not stupid -.- but usually I come in quick puzzles, but in the part there were some on which I had to think first how it should go on. Ok, in retrospect, I then thought to myself "great as I had earlier come to it" - well, still a good number and difficulty of puzzles. Only the puzzles fell to slightly less.

NEW
I'd say so, the studio has come up probably with something new in order to use a kind of mini-game in the Game. What III the passage fly from collapsing tunnels was in GoW, is in this part now slipping from steep slopes. While it's not the hammer idea, but in between actually quite ok, since the slaughter of opponents could be bleak even gradually. So a good little variety.
Another new feature is that you can take from enemies of their weapons now, of which there are five.
Sword, Shield, centrifugal bombs, spear and mace. Can with the circle button to use them, but also limited. Eventually Kratos makes with which a special attack and you have to use the Blades of Chaos back on. OK, really, was now not something crass special.
In any GoW, there are also special moves. In Part 1 you could use the Gorgonenblick or the lightning of Zeus, here you do not have that magic. Here you have 4 different blades, from Ares' fire blades (which there are not, I will tell). The studio has probably hereby set far auseiander. For each blade has several own moves and combinations, with each of the 4 blades can be by pressing R2 release a special move (if you're with the red orbs they bolstered) (at the blades of Ares, for example, he rammed the
Ringing in the ground, sparked an explosion and can by a QuickTime go one better, with other blades have to press different buttons to do something else).
There are no longer these gods wrath as with its predecessors, which one was quite invincible for a short time. Instead, a display fills the bottom right (if you get hit, it sinks again), when you reach a limit, then you can also release a special move by pressing L3 + R3. So you have many different ways to make enemies flat. And if you do it then with a certain blade flat, then you get an extra something to it. In the case of Ares' blades golden orbs - you need to Gods wrath.
What has improved (and which had annoyed me before): the chests you can press with 1x R1 open / break. However, this applies only for white and red chests. Why you need that long for the opening of green and blue chests? Probably so that they will not open accidentally, and then filled magic display also receives magic, although the not need :) Instead of (as previously mentioned) Gorgonenaugen and Zeus' lightning there are still 3 other magic items that you can use, you get in the course of the story,
to continue in the game move forward. More I will not tell you this.
Cool, I found the way he climbs. This reminds rather of Uncharted.

MULTIPLAYER
The multiplayer is actually quite ok.
One can build his warriors, buy by Experience new weapons and armor.
Poorly done is to create the character. There are only two or three places where you can umbasteln the figure. Because I would have liked more.
There are far too few levels. But for the level are all the more special. For example: The level with Apollo's statue, which you can destroy with a catapult to a certain time and then get extra points.
The fighting is confusing, just press buttons and hopes to meet an opponent, but then he hits you, then there ne cooldown, this will not do, then encourages you to, you know no longer where you are, then you're dead.
The multiplayer is a front, as if that was only a stopgap.

TROPHIES
For GoW I I 3 game tests hand, so I had almost all the trophies (damn, I can not do this game in 5 hours xD)
In Gow II it was actually just as hard.
In GoW III is more difficult to get all the trophies.
But at Ascension I have met through the first through gambling almost 80%.
There is a lack jediglich a few hidden trophies. So I can not tell you how hard it is to get to this (one could also look on the Internet). But so far all have trophies unlocked almost by itself.

EXTRAS
What was always cool even in the series, were the extras.
Extra videos, extra costumes, Arena, Challenge tasks ...
But where is all in here?
Maybe I should again nachgucken precisely because you can not go further out the videos to watch it again. And I think credits. No idea.
Speaking of "lacks typical Gow points": NO MINI SEX GAME !!! Yes ok, maybe that does not fit in the story because the club is the whole game down.

NEGATIVE
Negative are available in each game. On the ones I've mentioned so far (too many opponents, Special Edition fürn A ****) I do not want to dwell on.
Despite update bugs came (concerning not only sound) before. There is a bridge, after having done a Boss (Polux ...?). On this bridge there is a bug, and that if one is already over, and then must go through a cave entrance, then rumzuklettern there. Have me on the Internet video viewed by the bug, funny thing was that all these people had a completely different bug on the site. Well, PS driven down, booted, and this bug still remained. Since there was fortunately still a solution: Instead game simply continue selecting and then start the new chapter Chapter. It begins at the point anyway, after you defeat the boss. So you have to bounce only twice and you're on the bridge. And then should all work out.
What was unfortunately already in GoW III, came here before also: The story is much too fast through.
At 1 and 2, I have to "heavy" about 13 hours hand (the first time).
At 3 unfortunately much less. And at Ascension about 7 hours (if I am not mistaken). Too bad, I was so fascinated. That hurt when I was at the end :(
And one more thing I want to mention it again: The one with the many opponents and for example the Firebird of the goddesses of revenge has made the game far too colorful. That should be abeschafft. I'm actually not a fan of Hack & Slay but GoW is the only thing that I play in the direction. The Dark is just great - not even Dante's Inferno, what of the story actually even darker and gloomier was, is annäherend as good (in fact I thought it was rotten).

CONCLUSION
God of War Ascension disappointed not - to the point that it is too fast.
The game is the Oberhammer. The effects are awesome. The graphics bombastic. The ideas 1A.
Definitely a recommendation to buy, even for non-fans (as they then can get to know the history). Only I do not recommend the Steelbook Edition. Then either the standard version or the version with Kratos as a character (although I do not know what it has to offer).
Hope to many other parts - and please go longer than the last two :)
