After the first listen of "Overexposed" my impression confirmed first. The complete album is extremely catchy and a lot of the songs has Charthitpotential. Over the past week, the GO UP album with me and was played down, however, did a "problem" in that so far at any Maroon 5 album struck me - I have now after a week many (not all !) "Overexposed" title simply ignored. The classic syndrome so of "One Hit Wonder" -Titeln that are played constantly on the radio.
In the old albums, I had this feeling - and I have heard for weeks after publication.
Now the question is, what that might be. Maybe it is indeed the extreme pop logging, has the album. Some tracks sound very similar to other, yet others stand out all the more clearly from the crowd. This leads then to the fact that we finally might only 3.4 Faves on the album, but which then turn right, as it is with me.
My favorite tracks on the album are, in addition to "Payphone":
"One More Night": A great opener that has already been released in the US as a second single. A slightly quieter Up tempo song as the album comes across on average. Beautiful text. Total neatly tied together. Just because Adam Levine shows what his voice can.
"The Man Who Never Lied": Dashing piece with great verses. Although the chorus is almost in the direction of "tooting", but the rhythm is extremely interesting and ever: this song stands out!
"Tickets": If the style in the direction of the opener, however presents a little snappier and thereby set. Levine proves here again, what is in it and the text is breezy.
"Wipe Your Eyes": This title is my favorite track on the album. It starts like a typical "Scooter Song", as banal as it may sound. Then the text begins and the song evolves into a completely different direction than expected. Strong, damn catchy chorus to annoy without (!) Here. Class song! My Favorite!
However, what songs are not entirely convincing the following for me:
"Fortune Teller": The song was placed to my mind very unhappy right behind "Lady Killer". The songs sound damned similar and against his predecessor is "Fortune Teller" for me not approach. The Song creeps without major ups and downs and then "do not pick me up". Pity!
"Sad": In itself a nice, quiet numbers. For a ballad of Maroon 5 me but too well-behaved and less intensively. This can the guys better - see "Just a Feeling" from "Hands All Over".
In order not to misunderstand me: All tracks that I have not mentioned now are not bad, for God's sake. They are - like the others - for me only no outliers up or down. And in order not to go beyond the scope, I am merely discussed these same.
Conclusion: "Overexposed" is a damn good album, no question! It comes to me not quite to the previous zoom (yes, I find "Hands All Over" in fact most of the last Maroon 5 albums), but it is easy for me at the level of the other two albums. It makes you want to (hopefully coming!) Germany tour of the band and a sweetened the summer. A strong buy recommendation from me! :-)
