Property me this Set 2x bought because I wanted to replace my 4 existing units of the company. AVM. Their 500 Powerlans had 500 Mbit / s, but felt lost too many times for one minute, the connection, the cause may lie in our power grid. I noticed how slow was the internet connection. Downloading the manual, some MB, lasted about 10 minutes, felt an eternity, at least I have VDSL 25 Mbps. So I took the time to even look at the Fritz box, what would they tell me about the new client on the network. Astonished, I realized after calling "fritz.box" in the browser that my 7490 model should be a 3xxxer now. Since I already suspected what was going on: I had landed on the unprotected router my neighbor, which I review the entered there numbers confirmed. Well, obviously has my neighbor also Devolo powerline devices and it looks as if all Devolo delivers with the same standard setups. The handles AVM then something better: The two Powerline devices that you order there, can initially only himself and no other view. Of course it can be argued: The router should be protected by a password and the Powerline devices should be provided with its own PW .... yeah. But it is not advised and if a customer with little experience only after the slogan "into the socket with it and finish" is just happy that it works so, then that is quite a point of criticism that can be directed to Devolo, especially AVM his delivers better equipment here preconfigured. Once I realized the grievance, I first pulled out all the equipment from the electrical outlet. Then I bundled software installed on my PC, enter a new password for the Powerline devices and "Add device" is selected. But I gave the device a key right, who stood at the Devolo, which should exist only a times. After clicking on "OK" I have the Devolo plugged to the LAN cable into the socket and the software can find it even just after a few seconds. Me I'm just proceed the other three connectors: Add device, enter key, plug it in. After that, all 4 units in my (and only in my) apartment was available. Quick check: fritz.box ... aha, it was again my 7490 :) Whew ... what a fuss) Now it could therefore go to the tests going on. So after the connection data, the devolo were erected something, but not much better than my previously used AVMs. But then I transfer some data to my Synology NAS drive, which I have in the hall connected to the Fritz box directly via LAN and since I have but enjoyed: copying the data took place with 11 to 12 MB per second, an hour previously with the AVMs, there were only 3.5 to 4 MByte. Thus, the performance has thus tripled for me. The next day I tried then in the living room the same LOVEFiLM out ... and also the test was successful: It was for the first time no interruptions during playback. So far so good and I was also almost completely satisfied, if I had not from time to time still crashes the network. These are, however, become considerably less frequent and as mentioned at the beginning, I see the cause rather here in my current network. All in all you can recommend this 650s of Devolo already very good. However, they are at the moment also considerably more expensive than the 500 models, but much more efficient and reliable, at least in my environment. I would like to point out that they do not get two of the same devices at this offered Starter Kit, but one with 3 LAN ports and the other with only one. This went on for me is not necessarily the same from the product disclosure, but only after a "future reference", when I held a little surprised the Devolo with only one LAN port in my hand;)
