On the design of the plan, I find this new range shaped solar disk (diameter 18 cm, depth 10.5 cm with the base) is rather elegant. All the essential features of a light raiser are present: bedside lamp function, setting the maximum intensity of light and enlightenment that of the time display, choice upon waking between FM radio and noises Nature (here birdsong).
It is not known what is the life of the lamp ensuring awakening. Since this is an LED, it can be assumed that this period is very high.
The positives are:
- The relative compactness and overall appearance;
- The intensity of the time display automatically increases when the lamp is on. Also the information is still perfectly legible, without disturbing the sleeper when he is in the dark;
- The sound of FM radio is a very honorable quality (without claiming hi-fi), while I have not even bothered to unroll the wire by an antenna. You can listen to the radio at any time;
- The ergonomics of the controls is relatively satisfactory for the most common features.
The negatives are:
- The two recordings of bird songs are tainted by a substantive breath you can interpret your choice as the sound of a distant waterfall, wind, or a train which runs to infinity. The whole remains pleasant, but that breath does not exist on my Philips oldest alarm clocks;
- The device is very light, so on a very smooth surface tends to move when tapping on the touch keys, and you end up grasping to adjust comfortably. This is not a major flaw for everyday use;
- In case of power failure, the time control is lost. This is unacceptable because statistically I suffered about two EDF cuts every year, not counting the ones I myself triggers for different reasons. My old alarm clocks have the ability to store the time and work normally when power is restored, I can not understand why Philips has made a miserly economy on essential security.
I therefore delivers only 3 stars to this unit which otherwise is very satisfying.
