The lens is not bad, and also makes for good pictures Crop cameras. If you have, however, already owned an L lens, you will just not happy with it. It lacks the punch, the last bit of sharpness, the "wow" as you're used to in good Canon lenses and particularly the L series.
The stabilizer works well fascinating frankly, the focus is also fast, though not as quickly as in the L lenses.
However, I have the lens sold after 3 weeks and am on a 70-200 4L (without IS) switched, the hand for approximately 350 EUR changes hands. This is already a significant difference visually. However, not suitable for every situation, for the dim light 70-300 4-5.6 IS is better, because the IS can not keep loose L.
So think well, for which situation the push is needed. If mostly outdoor scenes will be created, access to L.
