Then something else is bothering me in the face of considerable camera price that no original Gegenlichblende is. This is what I would expect at the price already. Just as there is no software CD more, but this just does everything by download.
The camera is relatively heavy, the material used makes it but a high-quality impression, as I know from Canon (Canon My history. EOS 300D, EOS 30D, EOS 550D, EOS 5D Mk I, Ixus II, G9, G10 , G12). The housing and lens are built very solid. Despite the weight, I can hold the camera very comfortable to hold, even without optional handle.
The picture quality is good, if you do not overwrought Camera. For special tasks such as Macro and Sports, there is in my opinion better equipment. So a G1X II is a very good travel camera, if you do not want to carry around a lot of photo accessories. It is basically grown most photographic tasks with it. However, a compromise camera can not operate each specialty flat. If you're getting into it, it's okay.
Well, I find that the sensor has 12.8 megapixels at its considerable size. Since so virtually noise quickly. That is the basis of a solid image quality.
The adjustable monitor flips up (Selphies) and down, makes an equally robust. A screen protector is a must in my opinion.
The autofocus is sometimes a little slow for me and sometimes responds slowly. The touch screen is fast and you can also reacts with the Screen Focus and Shoot. This is enormously helpful in some situations. The push is definitely really fast. The minimum focusing distance is ok with 5 cm but not outstanding.
The lens is good for portrait, has a beautiful bokeh! 24-120 mm is very practical. For photos with shallow depth of field (or depth ... you name it) is the Canon G1X Mk II in the compact segment with probably the best choice, because you can really good because of the Lens' Maximum Aperture from wide angle to telephoto.
The menu seems to me in many respects and after a 2-year-old Canon abstinence (currently Sony users) partially nested and not just intuitive. In any case, it is used to. The camera has many different settings is individually configurable. On some effects I would have done without the benefit of a clearer Menuaufbaus, seem to me partly as a gimmick, which can be accessed with software solutions afterwards as well.
For smartphone control via wifi I can not say anything ... I do not need, not tested. To RAWs I can not say anything; I add later if necessary review this company yet. The JPEGs are definitely performed flawlessly. Since I had three different Canons of the G-Class, I have a comparison.
The video features and quality I have also not been tested since I am almost exclusively photographing go.
The camera is too expensive at all avowed quality in my opinion. For 850 euros you get a very useful DSLR (EOS 600D, and even a 60D) with an ordinary standard zoom. The price of the G1X II is not appropriate for me. I lack definitely the viewfinder! Sorry, again quite expensive (250, - and thus catapulted camera viewfinder plus in the more than 1,000, -Euro area). It can be if present but tilted by 90 °, which is extremely useful for macro or discrete Street photography. Worth considering ...
... But as I said ... for the price I would rather advise a 60D with a fast standard zoom. But am looking forward to my next trip to the I will invite the G1X II, because it seems very appropriate.
