The dock has the following connections: Network cable (LAN), DVI and HDMI (not simultaneously), 4x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0 (1 with 1.5A current). These do of course all its purpose. The scope of supply also includes an adapter which also monitors with VGA connector can be connected.
The functionality should be clear, therefore, I would like to direct to me which were noted positive and (unfortunately) also received little negative aspects below.
What is particularly positive?
- Design and manufacturing quality are really well done, only the lettering on the top could also be omitted.
- The USB ports are "on edge" arranged which offers the advantage that several USB sticks can be side by side plugged. In "transverse" arranged USB ports, this often is a problem.
- After installing the driver, the device works immediately as it should. I was impressed that the connected via the USB Dock Monitor is fully integrated in the system. You can select the monitor and change its resolution on the graphics settings of Windows. I did not expect.
What has struck me negatively?
- A blue LED on the front. I have it taped as with almost all my devices with black electrical tape, as black on black does not really stand. Unfortunately, the LED lights but also some by up through the white housing
- The USB ports are all on the back. In particular, the supplied with 1.5A USB3.0 connection would be my opinion in good hands at the front, since you can invite over his cell phone or iPad.
- When I connect an external hard drive without a separate power supply at normal USB 3.0 port (without 1.5A) and have copied data from there to another disk, the Dock is me some assumed times short. That is, the image on the monitor was gone and the transmission has been interrupted (Windows then offers the possibility to click on "Repeat" and on it goes ..) really should not be, but I can live with it.
Given the price and for me rather insignificant minor defects that can be partially guessed before ordering I give the device 4 out of 5 stars. Perhaps the manufacturer shall affix still a driver update that resolves the momentary outages "Maximum load".
