Lessons:
A total of five levels of learning are included. The individual lessons are divided into different classes: pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening and reading, reading, writing, listening, speaking + milestone.
Learning ways:
It is used a very intuitive way of learning. One always learns in connection with images. For example, you have to assign short phrases or words pictures. In the grammar exercises you arranged among other items into sets, which are displayed on the corresponding images. The reading exercises one speaks to the words or phrases. This is all really catchy, because the images are expressive. You can learn the words and immediately think of an act or an associated photo. I find this method of learning a simple flash cards to work as stubborn by. In the lessons you can choose the font to see either in phonetics (Pinyin) or the Chinese characters or the traditional characters used in Taiwan. There are below the exercises a "button", where you can switch back and forth. I like, because we must not be determined, you can see the sign and if you are not sure about the pronunciation can display the inscription. Show the way both characters and Romanization there were unfortunately not.
Shortcoming:
The course "writing" exercises to the phonetics, not the writing of the characters (and their stroke order). (You have a saying that is already there, write again, later you can not see the word and it is complete sentences). It is here apparently about to practice the correct phonetic pronunciation so targeted the phonetics and pronunciation but without learning the characters per se. The writing of characters is not a topic that I already feel as a shortcoming. In China, although the inscription is eg the road signs here, but if you want to write something to someone (maybe the taxi driver, the one not well understood) would then mark better than phonetics. The writing of characters you have to really practice, from my own experience I know - that does not fly to.
Positives:
- The debate of the teachers who read the words and phrases, is really very easy to understand.
- Even the supplied microphone has convinced me. The spoken words themselves are well recognized by the program.
- The entry of individual words to complete sentences with the correct articles etc is very fast and this is completely dispensed with the use of German statements.
- Learning the grammar is done playfully and in that one learns from the start by being applied correctly in sentences. Here, no explanations are given escalating.
Additional options:
Rosetta Stone still has a lot more than just the software language program.
- In order to improve the language skills you book live conversation training with native speakers and complete online (which I have not tried)
- Rosetta Stone offers access to its own online community, over which one can get in touch with people all over the world - even the language to practice (though I'm not one of the most CHATET)
- In addition, a mobile app will be sold at lessons to be completed on the mobile phone when you're on the go (which I find very nice, you always go a few minutes left to practice)
My perspective:
I use the program to my Chinese not to let rust thoroughly and do from time to time just a lesson to refresh my memories. The classes come to me as "advanced" relatively easy before, so who like me is quite far with his Chinese, the acquisition should think twice. I think the program is mainly aimed at beginners and those who have few skills.
I like to work with images, it is much catchier and more fun than flashcards turn. I wish I had something like that at the beginning of the study, which would support the learning process, but this is ultimately a financial question. The program is not cheap and would have been too high-priced to me at the beginning of the study.
Conclusion:
Rosetta Stone delivers a truly high-quality program that offers many learning opportunities. You can even determine the order of the lessons, repeat or omit individual courses (eg reading, listening). In addition, you have your own progress well in view. Anyway, I can say that convinces me the learning methodology, the voice acting is well understood (which is worth a lot), the lessons are entertaining, not too long, not too short and give the language well. I can only recommend the course.
