Positive aspects:
+ Crystal clear and easy to read display
+ Clear and well-structured menu structure
+ Different font size (the contacts) adjustable
+ Very good voice quality, even in handsfree mode
+ Direct and clear access to call records (missed, outgoing, etc.)
+ Custom ringtones (MP3) on playable (though software to must be downloaded)
+ Contacts with images (JPG, GIF, BMP) and individual melody (MP3, WAV) stored - with the assignment of an individual ringing tone to these contacts then to VIP's
+ Night-off (period freely selectable), only VIP callers are put through
+ Suppression of anonymous (without Caller ID) calls possible
+ Very convenient screensaver with analog clock and date display
+ Simple and very convenient direct transfer of contacts to other handsets
+ Calendar with date input and optical and / or audible reminder
+ Usable as an alarm clock
Negative aspects:
- Cheap, silver varnished surface (as usual)
- Ringtones, especially the self-dubbed MP3 songs, too quiet
- Synchronization software (not included) uncomfortable and with limited functionality
- Mini-USB port is hidden under the rear cover (how many survive the cracking open and close the retaining claws 4 dainty plastic is very questionable)
- Only shortly In VIP callers (caller with assigned ringtone) will sound the set standard ringtone for the phone to realize that there is a VIP and switches to the assigned ring tone.
With the synchronization software "Gigaset QuickSync" - which is not supplied, but will only be downloaded from the Siemens website needs - transferring the Outlook / Address Book contacts to the handset is possible, that is, however, that all contacts previously with the corresponding telephone numbers (in Format +49 must be ....) maintained. Since I had only filed the email accounts in Outlook, this was quite cumbersome. Desirable would be an additional function as my mobile phone software: A tabular Excel-like structure of the contacts with processing ability and the function "upload from the handset" and "Download to handset".
Another weak point is the still very cheap paneling of the case. This consists of thin silver-painted plastic trays. As can be seen here in some recessions in a valence is a mystery to me. In my previous Siemens Model (SX455) to this same paint dissolved after about 2 years of "caretaking" useful life.
Despite these criticisms, I would recommend the phone because of the simple, convenient and clear handling and functionality. Perhaps Siemens decides this model also with a metal shell to bring to market, that would be a clear recommendation of 5 stars worth.
