First Impression:
The lens is my first Tamron. Compared with the Tokina is a lightweight, although it is the same size! It is made entirely of plastic (except for the brass ring). It is well made and can be operated easily, both AF and MF. Nothing rattles, everything runs smoothly and easily. The AF is not quite as fixed as that of the Tokina.
Then:
After about 1,000 photos and 8 days stress, I realized that the zoom ring is no longer running so shallow, but is tightened carries a small noticeable clacking. But only when cranking. The run is on otherwise smooth and no steps / stuttering. I think the objective is now "retracted" :)
Now for the optical qualities:
In terms of sharpness, it is the Tokina mE inferior. Took me but not surprised, it's also a physically seen greater compromise. Fade worth at the lens. The winner is then to sharpness and contrast, and color of wealth. Vignetting I can not find. But I am not a professional tester, thinking can be better read in the trade press.
Bokeh experiments are me not succeeded to the lens is too faint. The Tokina goes something like this.
Conclusion: The zoom range is fun! There have as Always plan for city trips has been proven! I use it even now still prefer! It's more of a lens for everyday use. Moreover, it is in the UWW-range currently rather a favorable solution (have paid significantly less than 500).
Visually, there are alternatives that offer safe minimally better performance.
