Positive
+ Very good steam and ironing service
+ It is continuously consistently steamy available; it need not pause to be inserted again so that steam is available
+ The steam generator iron is approximately 2 minutes after power ready
+ The turbo button is not normally required
+ It is used in many places metal instead of plastic
+ Robust soleplate (lt. Stiftung Warentest 12/2012 superior scratch resistance)
+ The descaling system works well with tap water in regions with not too hard water (otherwise you have demineralized water be mixed in order to avoid stains on the clothes)
+ Switches off automatically when it is not used
+ Automatic regulation of steam and temperature -> at reduced temperature, the amount of steam automatically adjusted to prevent water droplets on the clothes
Negative
- It lacks a transport lock -> the cold but more importantly the hot iron can not be safely transported or stored. The transport lock is mE also useful to prevent the topping to prevent accidental contact with the hot soleplate and (missing residual heat indicator) especially when unattended cooling. Therefore, the steam generator mE is unsuitable for a household with children.
- The iron slides compared with Tefal or Siemens SL45 relatively poorly on the linen
- The Dampfausstoff is compared with the Siemens SL45 Dampfbügelstation quite noisy
- The water tank can be due to the rugged design is not completely empty (but better than Tefal) -> bacterial growth with corresponding odor
- The steam generator is not non-slip rubber feet
Conclusion
Very good performance and robust ironing soleplate that slides relatively poorly on the laundry. A transport lock is missing. Therefore, the Rowenta steam generator mE is not suitable for toddlers household. An active ironing table is highly recommended because of the high steam production.
