Since I myself a Samsung LE40C750 101 cm (40 inches) was purchased from Amazon not quite three years ago and absolutely am satisfied with (use it for gaming, watch Blu-ray, television, etc., and have no failures or quirks to complain) much my choice this time on the Samsung UE42F5070 since these meet the above requirements at a good price and I seemed to be, have, as already mentioned, made with Samsung as a producer good experience.
Delivery: The unit was delivered promptly and was safely packaged in a box with the usual Styrofoam inserts. The TV already makes unpacking a high-quality impression, the building was easy and went quickly. The initial installation is also simple and can be performed even by a layman. Setting up the transmitter is a bit awkward and required time. Unfortunately the menu in my opinion is to be cumbersome, I have already seen a simple and intuitive (was at my LE40C750 the same structure and thus more moderate).
Picture: The picture is excellent as the LE40C750. The contrast is high and sharp, there is no wiping effect in fast scenes (Football, Motorsport) and pixel errors were also not determined by us. The supply of the signal is done with us over cable (DVB-C), which is why you unfortunately can not give any assessment to Freeview here.
Sound: The sound is good for a TV of this price range. Compared to a home theater system the TV of course gets the short end. For the normal television, it will do just fine and I do not at least no TV in this price range known who would tear excessively upwards.
USB playback: Playback of movies via the USB port was done perfectly and there were all of use to me formats. Officially, AVI, MKV, ASF, MP4, 3GP, VOR, VOB, PS, TS, DivX 3.11 / 4/5/6, MPEG4 SP / ASP, H.264 BP / MP / HP, Motion JPEG, Microsoft MPEG-4 v3, Window Media Video v7, v8, v9, MPEG2, MPEG1 support.
Gaming: The capability to connect consoles or PCs was not verified by me because my mother it also sets no value. In my experience, but to play at this TV should be at least for casual gamers be possible and I also suspect that passioniertere player with this TV are likely to be satisfied because the 100Hz guarantee normally fluent display.
Conclusion: If you want to have a television, especially for watching normal TV programs, DVDs, Blu-Rays at a good price and no great emphasis on features such as 3D, Smart TV, PVR, is when this TV at the absolute right place.
