The reflections on the limited natural resources of this planet, the truths about the conduct of an army, the evocation of the division of Belgium, genetic manipulation, the creation of a natural park for orangutans .... all topics that I found together in the novel and in the newspapers of the day's news! Disturbing!
But rather than having a gift of clairvoyance, I think Brunner and as one of its main characters, a "synthéticien". He managed to get a snapshot of current trends, and extrapolated them in the future. Exercise it!
Only area where Brunner crashed is IT. We find in "Stand on Zanzibar" the notion of a single computer that know everything whereas the current reality shows us that IT has evolved in the direction of the interconnection between millions of computers.
