Great approach brazen implementation

I would not complain about great because I am now suffering at Logitech products (could after 5 different current articles never forgive more than 3 points). That's why I list only the pros and cons and then explain my low rating.

First of the good things:

- Image quality a lot better than in the C910
- White Balance better than with the C910
- More frames per second than with the C910

The bad things:

- No direct recording of the H264 streams with known programs possible. This is only possible on the Logitech software. Thus, one can, as the saying goes, in the product description, just save no CPU load when you do not want to use the very limited hardware or software can.
- Without the Logitech software microphones deliver only 32 KHz. With Logitech software 48KHz.
- Using the automatic "image enhancement" still leads to the fact that with less good lighting conditions, the frame rate drops drastically.
- Video Effects only work without the use of H264 streams, and create so much more CPU load.

It is this double brazen forced to use proprietary software, let me already deduct 2 stars. The rest has still brought a star deduction.
I can not tolerate that a product in the functions and the performance is so curtailed, just so you use the manufacturer's software easily. This can be in Apple products might still see, but not in the PC sector.

Really, really a shame because the hardware itself is really great for a webcam.

Update 10/04/2012:
As I have now read, the C920 has a lower resolution than the C910. Some people report therefore of poorer picture quality. But I can not really confirm. In 720P and 1080P can I find the C920 much more natural with better color and less digital sharpening. The C910 had at 720p or 1080p always comical ranges on edges, as if she were poor downsampling. Only when the maximum and native resolution (which is but unusable in video) went the way. In the C920, this is no longer the case. The whole picture looks in all resolutions from very smooth and no longer even so cunningly made sharper. For shooting inside under artificial lights are no longer so yellow as in the C910.

However, photos then but much worse, precisely because of the lower resolution. This 3 MP photos are extrapolated in the C920 15 MP, which is not really nice. The C910 has a 5 MP sensor.

Update 22/04/2012:
Now I have found that the auto focus and RightSound (mean loss of stereo) settings will be reset again for a startup are (they are switched on again). This is also long been known and is called in the support forums already more than a year to fix it (general Webcam software problem). A Logitech employee says that he has passed it, but still nothing has happened.
Logitech disappointed me really from month to month more ...
Yet such knowledge and I have to deduct the last star.

Another user asked me if I also get very extreme scratching when the microphones pick up sounds louder. This unfortunately I could not confirm. This is really very bad, the louder is the sound. Even wind noise that are already annoying when other cameras, listen to as if someone stops in front of the plastic wrap and Mikros zusammenknäult repeatedly - one understands anything. Each cheap microphone for a few euro automatically reduces the gain from loud noises, so this does not happen. This camera is not for 100 euros. The microphones listen to words, quite simply, as if they are broken.

What's going on at Logitech? Close to bankruptcy?
Unfortunately, I now have to deduct no more star if the camera should go prematurely broken.
But I would like to mention here the always of course.

Update 14/09/2012:
Even a small addendum: I had to realize that this camera always sets to standby the autofocus setting (on to). You always have before you take control if everything is set correctly so actually. Unfortunately, this configuration tool does not leave it open, because after a Standby these options are simply not displayed, and you have to restart it until new.

For a change, sometimes a little bit positive. The auto white balance is a really great webcam. I am always surprised by how quickly he responds.

Update 05.04.2013:
With the new driver 2:51, the problem is finally solved that settings have been forgotten (eg switched off auto focus) when you send the computer into standby or has restarted. Since the person brings a lot to me, I give back to a star.
