Have this summer the Olympus TG-610 borrowed for my holiday in Egypt to me by a work colleague, he offered me to borrow me. Had never an underwater camera, because me this device class had deterred by to meißt quitschbunte and globige housing. But at the TG-610 I was totally surprised because it looks so normal (one does not look at her, you is waterproof) and by their metal case very valuable and stable effect. At first I was skeptical, but this camera not only made great underwater pictures but also outside. I have also enjoyed that one can always plug in the camera, even in swimming trunks and then jumping into the pool and need not think of anything ... especially you have the camera always ready to take a snapshot. When I followed in Croatia had the camera with me and there to land, under water and in a downpour (I had the rain surprised I was completely soaked and the camera in your pocket ... wonderful when there does not have to give top eight) also convinced, I had you. Unfortunately, the TG-610 is already on the way out, so I wanted the successor, the TG-620th I then purchased from the electronics store near ... and gave you the next day immediately returned. The TG-620, the TG-610 is not even close to a candle, as you - Has a plastic housing, which feels very cheap (had concerns that will keep them waterproof outdoor camera not long) - The display aufwieß a much lower display resolution than the TG-610 (!) - Less prefabricated Scene settings (Sunset, Fireworks, etc.) as the TG-610 had, - 2 different valves (1x for miniHDMI and data cable connector and 1x where battery and memory card are housed) with seals had (thus 2 seals that can leak and thus 2 holes where water can enter ... therefore 2 errors (!) - > TG-610 and TG-820 only have one door where everything is housed) Has, and especially NOT protect / lock / cover for the camera lens -. The TG-610 had a protection of the automatically traveling ahead of the lens when this ausschaltete. Something like today I think almost any camera and in the TG-620, this is completely missing ... therefore I had in mind when I eg this camera. have in your pocket, I zerkratze me the lens (or anderwertigen outdoor use) ... and then they can still have as many pixels and electronic helpers, they then makes no more good photos. Therefore, the TG-620 went back to the dealer. Thus, it was the TG-820 because you, - Has a great metal housing which very robust and high quality feels (as in the TG-610) - Automatic protection / cover for the lens, has the moves when switching off before the lens - Has many pre Scene settings - Can take in 1080p movies. After nearly three months, I have not regretted my decision because the camera great shots makes (underwater and outside ... as the TG-610 only seemingly a bit better it seems to me) and so be it, as I an outdoor camera imagine (shockproof, waterproof, valuable, good for snapshots as they can quickly react and turn quite rapidly).
The only thing I noticed is negative, this function allows the camera to control and to thus move without pressing a button through the menus (eg when wearing thick gloves) by tilting and rotating movements (via the built-in position sensor). This function sucks something to look at photos via the display or to show others there is mostly unintentionally next program to the previous or next image (still needs to look where you can turn this off). But otherwise I am very happy with the camera and it is (at least for me) the nominal fee for TG-620 value.
