I've previously the Turtle Beach PX5 owned, which was also excellent. However, the microphone was realtiv unfit for Chat & on the other hand quite often cracked in the acoustics because divereser noise sources (such as Wi-Fi router).
The Astro makes already fun while unpacking ... the cardboard is stylish and high quality. If one then considers the headset in his hands, you realize just the high-quality materials. The feel is simply unlike cheaper products. Especially in the frame color chosen by me "know" the device is extremely chic.
Also the comfort is very successful. The ear cups enclose the entire ear and are very soft and comfortable to the touch. Whereas you had to say that a replaceable ear fabric would have been desirable, because it is a track to warm in summer. Setting the size is easy and provides a lot of room for big heads. For small heads (eg for dainty women) he is not as well suited.
However, the Dolby Surround Sound & to use the voice chat feature, is the Astro MixAmp necessary (in my case the 5.8 RX). This suggests again with just under 50 euros. The latest version MixAmp again with just under 120, -. In addition, yet you need a separate cable for voice chat, which is not so far included. The "pair" the headset with the Playstation (Xbox or PC I could not test) is also regulated very simply and easy to use by laymen.
Sound Technically, the A40 a rich, full and bassy sound of not acting dull and overdone. The spatial sound works great & also the microphone transmits voice crystal clear. Initially, there were problems with the chat Cables & the microphone, however, the German distributor "Roxxgames" offered quick and easy service & again sent a new MixAmp. I have the device now nearly 1 1/2 years almost daily in operation and absolutely no notice fatigue .... either doer to bow ear pads .... everything is still as on the first day. Class, but for the price you have to the course may be expected).
The sound while gambling PS3 is simply terrific and better than my home system (price: 500, -). Grade who likes to play at night or watching movies (and the like loud;)) for the HS is a very good choice as he gets home theater sound and its neighbors spares). Erwäht is still that it is an open headset that is the noise outward penetrate if you put on the headphones. Not very loud but unmistakably. But what is not a criticism, but just for completeness sake it is noted.
Normally I had thought to give "only" 4 stars because of the relatively high purchase price. But it's just too good to devalue it by. Be it Optikm feel, packaging, quality & sound ... everything is at an extremely high level in the headset segment. Who has fun with high-quality technology and looking to expand its Home Cinema to another great Proudukt gets here a really great device. I have also done me hard so much money (all in all, just over 300, -) to invest, but in the long term was & it's a decision you will not regret. Recommended it, in order to better service and warranty, to order the product on the German operator directly.
