Grebe with very special sounds

It is now the tenth plate of Rainald Grebe - and since an eternity again a double CD - fortunately! One has here the feeling of having really dealing with a complete recording of the evening - although I'm sure that he was still cut in some places. But in principle it is a beautiful thing that you can listen to a few moderations of Rainald Grebe again who came often too short for the last plates.
We ate here after quite short "Rainald Grebe concert" again a sizable number of tracks, and as arrant Grebe fan I am pleased, of course: There are neat get an earful.

This is also related to the musical accompaniment as follows: The orchestra has changed a little, there is the string quartet (unfortunately) no longer that had me really liked on the first orchestral plate for wind instruments have been added - and the making also the very special sound of this record. You and all kind of quiet times, and sometimes very powerful accompaniment make this double CD to a very special.
One shortcoming there but here is that the instrumentation is partly so fat that some tracks will end almost the texts. And just when Rainald Grebe, in which it is so important to pay attention to the text, which is particularly unfortunate.

The content itself is in fact not bad either: The observation Grebes, his manner, the world and its people to see and to pack his results intelligent and cross intellectually in felicitous words, coming here again well to the fore, even if they - and Therefore, this plate was perhaps also recommended Grebe newcomers - something mass-compatible are often than usual. Thematically, but as always right across the vegetable patch.
Everyone will have on this record his personal favorites. Mine are on the first CD, the "general election" and the "Prince of Liechtenstein", on CD 2, the wonderfully snappy "The end of the white man", the quiet-thoughtful "hole in the sky" and the anthemic "craft".

Now Grebes lyrics on this record are not as snappy as before. That's a pity; also repeated increasingly different themes; the "advisors" had been already so similar in "The Candidate" and "The President", the "home" song is based on "mid-life" and "On Tour". In addition as I said, that the texts sometimes get lost in the powerful accompaniment. In principle, would be the 4 stars.
But since it finally is a double CD and a live recording and monitoring is so exceptional (and because you have refrained in the booklet to write the lyrics as usual in the middle of the photos, which makes them even all this time legible; )), there's a star on top of an extra, and we are in the full score.

Conclusion: A very good album for Rainald Grebe fans and also for those who want to be there, unusually instrumented and solid texted. Thoroughly recommended.
