Five days (Paperback)

Customer Review

Coming to see what readers thought of "Five days" -that I read without consulting critics, having already appreciated by the past-Kennedy, I note that opinions are very divided ... which is my case also.
The story is that of Laura, radiology technician, who gets stuck in a long marriage without love and who, during a business trip to Boston, meets human life. I say no more, even if the primer does not specifically make you want to throw yourself on the book, but that would spoil the only twists the story than to tell you later.
The theme perfectly ready to marshmallow drift and, alas, is no exception Kennedy at times. For a few dozen pages, I felt sad to have left the wedding of Laura to drown me in the pink. Too many shots for my taste, too bad, it is possible to speak of the great love and Avoiding the caricature. Moreover, some dialogues or passages struck me very simplistic or naive, as if they were taken from a short story contest for amateurs, but the fact to read it in French and not in English may have negatively influenced my judgment.
That said, I still wanted to go to the end and I had the pleasant surprise to see Kennedy leave his little Harlequin cloud for "daring" a little more. What displeases me to some readers in any case allowed to have a more favorable opinion, namely that he qualified his remarks by its realism tinting pink and making her a little more consistent and coherent characters. His psychological analysis is itself relevant if not deep or subtle.
If "Five days" is readable with ease and relative interest regarding the destiny of the characters, it is certainly not the best of Kennedy and I advise you in this regard "This particular moment" or "The pursuit of happiness "...
