About me: I'm still of the generation in which the neon tube was sold as an energy saving. I think the older readers among you will understand what I mean. The other was told that I rather since the setting represent "A light bulb is just a light bulb" :). And what can be sold as energy-saving replacement of the good old light bulb us so in recent years, has frankly not exactly blew me away. That's why I approached with a healthy dose of skepticism on the matter.
Reason for my undertaking: Well, for one, I try always to do something for the environment and on the other I call two neunflammige halogen ceiling lights my own run daily a very nice time and since then flows quite nicely flow through and quite cheap is not exactly. For this reason, I have one of the two lamps, the original 20W halogen lamps replaced from the start by 10 watts which has reduced the consumption before 90 watts but still quite a lot, I think. After I had over Christmas as much and thus time to browse others leave, I am met with this LED replacement bulbs for halogens and have easy times surely ordered 4 pieces of it.
Unpacking and first impression: Well, even if I had read the dimensions when you hold these things once in his hand and compares with a halogen lamp, the difference is considerable. If the vitreous humor of a halogen lamp the size of about 22mm length (without contacts) and a diameter of 9mm, so you already hold in the LED version a "Brummer" of 32mm length and 16mm in diameter in his hand. In addition, the contacts also 2mm longer, namely 10mm instead of 8mm my halogens but which can be easily change with a side cutter. However, one should ever pay attention because these dimensions on where they fit really into it. Dimensionally but also visually. In the steep immediately noticeable that the whole electronics is poured into a silicone-like mass and the whole thus feels much softer. Whether this is better or worse as glass, I can not evaluate. If this results in no disadvantages in terms of distortion, discoloration or even life in the long run, it's not important to me. In any case, they made when unpacking before a high-quality impression. One misses more than the plastic bags in which the halogen bulbs are otherwise still packed when she gets out of the Kartonschächtelchen. Ever an advantage: One, the LED lamp may also with oily skin touch what to avoid in principle yes at halogens if you want to have longer ;-)
Installation and Switch: I have drawn four of the 10 watt halogens from the middle of my off the ceiling light and 3 Watt LED plugged in which, as expected, just ran. Only the said length of the contacts I immediately corrected again. Please note: Each lamp plugged into a socket with a crystal, which has several ground surfaces, enclosed and down is open. Despite the reduction in the contacts, the LEDs about 3-4mm look as opposed to the halogens nor protruding from the socket. Not quite ideal but not a disaster. So on to the light switch.
Wow ... What a brightness. In direct comparison with the 10W halogens these are formally set. I really would not have expected. That was more like significantly. Inspired by the success went to the second lamp and there 4 of installed 14W halogens replaced by the same LEDs and also here the difference was even more than evident. I can not say exactly whether they are as bright as a 25 watt halogen lamp, I tend to believe it because of the difference to the 14W bulb now. So in terms of brightness plain sailing.
As for the color temperature, they are just in the green zone. As a truly "hot" I would not classify as well as the halogen lamp I hold already for borderline. Where applicable, a difference is for me anyway imperceptible. But that probably everyone feels a bit different.
However, what also stands out a bit uncomfortable in addition to the massive dimensions, the reflections are who produced my crystal sockets on the ceiling with the clear light of halogens. When directly imperceptible so the light from the LED light seems to be somewhat diffuse so that the reflections are now barely recognizable. Those who place value on something sure to get used to the light of the LEDs hardly. As a last point is perhaps still the special design observed. Because LED lamps because of their size are now clearly visible as the comparatively delicate halogens and notice the design of saving lamps from different manufacturers also significantly different, it is perhaps useful replacement lamps of the same manufacturer to have up your sleeve. Especially when several LEDs are used in a visually sophisticated lamp. Due to the specified service life of 30,000 hours, this should not be necessary but my confidence in this respect is not yet made such an extent that I would like to make this point to mention (if you know what I mean).
All shortcomings so limited rather to optical aspects but that's part of also, you have to know it. Regarding the dimensions, can not make deductions that are available in the description and above you have to be clear. With regard to the design and eventual disadvantages when changing can one manufacturer alone can not hold against. Only for the more diffuse light I would like half a point but deduct half a point can not forgive you. Technically, I consider them properly. So in case of doubt for the accused: 5 star
All in all, I would to change a complete success and indicate when added no failures or repeatedly readable fibrillation within the next 4 weeks, I will replace any halogen bulbs by LED's and me enjoy significantly lower power consumption. I love to buy something which comes back gradually back into the purse ;-)
Summary:
+ Very bright light
+ Low energy consumption
+ Pleasant feel
+ Sound quality
+ Plugging without cloth or glove possible
+ - Contacts a little too long
+ - Application limited due to the size
+ - Very different design for different manufacturers
- Slightly more diffuse light than halogen
Conclusion: Depending on the application well worth a recommendation
At the end I would like it not have failed to mention the already habitual good delivery service from Amazon :)
I hope I was able to touch on one or another new aspect or at least support you with my presentation in your decision a bit.
Greetings and enjoy more brooding
