Only the size dimension of this lens was a real surprise for me.
The lens with about 850 grams rather heavy fails, I had already read.
But since I only have a "small" D5100 camera and the lens is attached to the meissten images rather to the "large" full-format cameras (and even there looks quite large), I have the size probably imagined wrong. The lens in front of the D5100 and one sees hardly that behind the lens is there still a camera. But is was not actually sausage.
So off you go, cultivated the good thing about the camera and the lens hood off.
First Macro shots of my "old" Nikon 50mm 1: 1.4 lens made with tripod.
Then went one round through the village and shot a few test photos freehand.
The results are all really good.
Pro:
- The lens is extremely fast sharp,
- It meets the point of focus with absolute accuracy. Even with open aperture sits the focal plane, where I put grabs the measuring field.
- I think the PR is really cool. Shots freehand with ner 100'tel or even 50'tel second and if you have a bit of trouble when there is still and can make the VR the rest, nothing is really blurred.
Cons:
- When taking pictures of bright, high-contrast edges at maximum aperture, you experience mild to moderate chromatic edges. (About 2-4 pixels wide, so excerpts on DIN A4 can not be seen.)
- The focus assist lamp, because the size of the lens back behind the lens, the front comes to focus on nothing more. Anyway, when ner D5100. However, I did otherwise the focus assist light eh always.
Pro + Contra both:
- The lens is quite large and heavy. (Some like it the other not)
My conclusion: "5 star"
Very good lens, images are super sharp, easy to handle NEN, super VR, NEN very fast AF.
On the size of the lens, I'll probably have to get used to at some point.
But I look forward to it the photograph next days / months / years with them.
