Herausstechend - My emphasis: Zoo

Obviously, we were very fortunate to get a free copy defects. At least I hope so, because our strongest light lens is the 135mm and we also have one of the problem children, namely the L-macro lens, and the focus is always "perfect" sitting.
I find it remarkable in this context the sometimes condescending tone towards less fortunate buyers - so I asked in "the" Photo shop Munich after and my concerns were with the statement "on the internet anyone can write yes" dismissed.

This remarkable camera now has an irreparable damage to their image, they do not deserve.
I would give her one of the 1000D similar special status. As our predecessor also was the 70D with other functions and technology - and with the 7D partly "höherklassiger" - models a kind of best equipped.
In short, the price / performance ratio is impressive.

As will be touched upon already carried out our upgrade of the 1000D. And so I turn also tend to those interested parties which consider upgrading itself.
With our limited financial means a full-frame camera was not an option because the required for wildlife photography Telephoto lenses are simply beyond our possibilities and an ordinary zoom to 500mm can not meet my expectations.

In the meantime, I thought the appearance of a wait 7D II - also to gain time to save.
And that in all these considerations into now burst ours.

The autofocus with 19 cross-type sensors work quickly and precisely. Pleasant is the ability to group multiple AF areas (the average nine or four at the edge). To keep a hawk at an airshow in the viewfinder is hard enough - always keep the center AF centered on cost him the highest concentration. And was left to the camera throughout the election, so they focused all certainly just not the desired.
If the autofocus access not even know I had been the grief that the camera further sought incessantly. In the Custom Functions can now be set that it breaks off at "unmöglicherer focus" and I therefore the possibility of manual intervention allowed without that I had to turn off the autofocus on the lens.
The fine adjustment of lenses I had considered Selbsverständlichkeit. Mir is still incomprehensible why such an important feature of the 1000D was unavailable. Although only our macro lens was affected by a back focus and the autofocus was dormant for motives anyway mostly irrelevant; not so, however, if you intend to capture about a Taubenschwänzchen.
Another advantage of the 70D is the relatively large viewfinder, through which it for the first time I manage to check the sharpness without Live View.
The only penalty over our previous model: Although the active AF points are specially displayed in the viewfinder, and are therefore compared to previously no longer etched and "adjust" to look through the viewfinder no longer, but when the autofocus attacks, so there is no such clear visual feedback more. At the 1000D blinked in the corresponding AF briefly a red dot on; Now you only have the green light at the bottom right corner in the whole or a beep, which I put down on the first day - to conserve and not just about the nervous bystander ;-)

One of the key points in addition to a more powerful autofocus system for a departure from the 1000D was the ISO range for me.
Shots in the aquarium with flash forbid to me by itself. With ISO 1600 but it depends even with Aperture 2.8 out of nothing. With ISO 6400 and full aperture, I am now able to photograph even a shark.
And so the delicate noise. This is then unmistakably and take pictures with dark areas unsightly. At the cost of greatly reduced sharpness respectively Drawing can this be but subsequently suppress the PC well and are obtained after all very appealing snapshots.
Much more important is the ability to be able to photograph carefree 800 ISO.

Another function, which enjoys great popularity with me, is the series recording, which is her name now finally justice.
I have only to compare the 1000D, but with her recordings were as RAW only possible in what felt like every second, for which I had no specific function required, and as a JPEG possibly the promised three per second.
For me, RAW files are (among other benefits) "comfortable" because I beikomme color casts and different from my imagination better exposures.
Just for fun I did with the 70D a series recording from a second hand. While 13 pictures he has just come times two strokes far, the 14th image was then already somewhat delayed - but all in RAW.
And once you get the high speed not needed / wishes the continuous shooting can (probably) operate at half speed with.

That dynamics and color reproduction of the 70D a milestone - thankfully no quantum leap - represent opposite the 1000D is given the age The second one not surprising and I can therefore naturally not properly assess. Suffice it to say: I was excited about the recordings bathing elephants and sea lions - otherwise outshone usually the ambient or skin drank from in contour Wi shadow.

WiFi, video recording and touch display are nice gimmicks for me. "Accustomed" to the latter, however, is one amazingly fast, so I probably soon will not want to miss. The locking of the mode selection wheel is very agreeable to me, because the quick movement like even blocked my program Av.
Despite the enthusiasm but also I miss a mnemonic for the white balance. No too serious shortage after all ...

I am aware that my review "seitlastig" is, but I did not everything said ruminate etc. to feel, but upgrade the willing an impression of the performance of the 70D - just focusing on animal or Zoophotographie - convey.
In fact, I see the Canon EOS 70D with the current models as herausstechend, similar to the one day 1000D. It offers replete with great technique different from other models, a price / performance ratio, that has no equal, and therefore gets an A strong buy recommendation.

Today I discovered another function for me, their implementation can hardly be desired: the remote control of the 70D
The problem is sketched quickly. In our not very large balcony growing in a near-wall corner sunflowers and for the first time for several years, we have constant visit of goldfinches. These birds now are so shy as pretty, making it the one attractively makes photographing - and on the other hideous difficult.
Now the remote firing of a camera is certainly old hat; However, the so surprising for me was the possibility via remote control in Live View manually (!) to be able to focus.
The EOS Utility program provides three levels of focus change (coarse, medium, fine for closer or further) so that you can actually adjust the sharpness accurately. And so we finally get photos of our esteemed guests!

Originally I wanted to use the Wi-Fi capability, then read but in the manual that movements would possibly shown only ruckelnd in LiveView. I am therefore conservative - in other words: Wired - stayed and had an impeccable image transfer. Soon I will retrofit an even longer cable (~ 3m) ...
Should anyone, however, not be quenched by the very "technical" Connection via WLAN PC / Smartphone and good experience with the remote control (in particular, the image transmission) have done, so I would be very happy about a relevant comment ;-)

Oh ... nothing to be desired leave nothing ... when you shoot a photo from the 100% view out, so it would have been nice, even back in the 100% view of return (instead of the full image) - especially if you have a wide angle selecting for a later crop ...

Unfortunately, Canon seems to problems with the autofocus to want to sit out until the next series ...
If he works as neatly as with us, but he is really great!
On a serious trial he is indeed provided only for fast movements - and in resting motives I still trust my eye more and encroaches in doubt. The other day but in the Fröttmaninger Heide I wanted to photograph dragonflies and finally took a large in-flight on the grain - spacing 60 ~ 70cm. In such a situation, a fast and reliable autofocus is of course essential. And in fact I managed a (really) spicy Photo with 100 macro and the AI ​​Servo adjustment - less than 20 images for the trash (slight blur background or focused).
For a professional at sporting events possibly an unacceptably poor yield, but for an amateur with ample opportunity for renewed attempts by a great achievement, as I would not have thought of our entry-level model for her possible.
