Before I have to for this article external I preface that I'm actually diehard high-Ender. Therefore, I am testing an audio chain or their components in principle with high quality, I knew well that these recordings also some exaction. In the last two days, I now had the now tested but with much praise heaped on B & W MM-1 for the computer room, on these points. As output source a MacPro would use stored lossless means "Apple Lossless" on the computer with experienced audiophile title. As the first tones from the speakers came, I was initially a little irritated. On the one hand this Tonal sounded very balanced so maybe now and then with a minimum excess of heat, which currently benefit voices. The stage represented enough at times not only on the establishment of the two speakers and the width addition but also a staggering into the depths of space was visible. The music also broke up very nicely from the small sound transducers and they could be as a source part, no longer places so it should be. Here, the MM-1 also proved to be true sophisticates and offered a very fine drawing and audibility of music events, nothing was hidden. On the other hand, I missed but then the same at the beginning a little "pressure" in the bass range, the example is very blatant in Sara K. title "Waterfalls" revealed. This title will deteriorate over too deep "shock" which remained virtually inaudible to the MM-1 during which my old JBL Creature with their sub here in a direct comparison, this could very well still reproduce. However, this play again in the mid and treble not so far from balanced, homogeneous and spatially as B & W. With some songs with plenty of highs the JBL were even downright annoying in the long run, a circumstance which the MM-1 is completely foreign. And one more thing seems worth mentioning good shots clearly benefit from the MM-1 speakers but poor pictures will be exposed mercilessly. Precisely because of this point should be his shots in the highest possible quality, ie. save in the lowest level of compression on his PC. Finally, the dwarves can volumes thanks its sophisticated circuitry produce them so you really do not trust. But - and this is again the rabbit foot to the story - at least medium level already require the MM-1 Böxchen in to ultimately achieve their sound properly.
Given these aspects, and given the despite the services offered quite lush price but it is also from the standpoint that this product is produced in a low-wage country, it is sufficient for me in my review of a rich "good" with 4 stars. The 5 point I had to fail because of the complete lack of bass and as I would have at least wanted an optional way for this price include a controllable or matching subwoofer from B & W to tailor the sound. But the bottom line, the B & W dwarves remain generally recommended and set in many areas the desire for a portable "high-end" system for the desktop satisfied. It must be acknowledged that here I tested desktop speaker is not the laws of acoustics but Lever B & W has proved to them what is possible.
