To avoid further unnecessary to pull my review in the length, I would like on the basis of a (subjective) evaluation of each song this plate have a small overview.
Rating Scale: 1 - 5 stars / 1 star: MIES, 5 stars: TERRIFIC
1. SING THIS ALL TOGETHER ****
The album starts as it has to start (according to the theme): chaotic, noisy but quite enthusiastic and inspiring. Mick sings loudly of images that he sees with his eyes closed. Truly a drug song, but not unsympathetic!
2. CITADEL ****
For this disc almost unheard of "rock". Keith's guitar riff reminiscent of large, following hours. A rock Psychedellic number with heart, the ideal on this synthesis of the arts, as I trust myself to call this plate, watch out!
3. IN ANOTHER COUNTRY ***
Does the first time to hear a bit unimaginative and bland. However Fits (as basically all numbers of this album) super on the disc. Animates which to lose dreams. Bill Wyman's only attempt in the Stones era through afflict himself as a songwriter, favored by turmoil, the band almost zerüttenden circumstances (Mick and Keith were at this time probably more common in trials than in the studio).
4, 2000 MAN ****
A truly successful single, which can even if you hear them solo, inspire and thrill. Was incidentally gecovert of KISS (without, of course, get hold to the original). Really good!
5. SING THIS ALL TOGETHER (SEE WHAT HAPPENS) **
A small crash into absolute chaos, if at all, only in terms of the overall concept of the album has a survival authorization. If after pleasing start but somehow also a nice break to get back on the (Psychedellic-) floor. Well - why not ?!
6. SHE'S A RAINBOW *****
The only actual hit single on this album. If on the other Stones albums, regarding harmony and fine-tuning to be taken seriously at all no chance. For the Stones rather an atypical single, but at the same one that provides the versatility and creativity of the band to prove! Amused the mind. A song to sing along unbeschwetes !!
7. THE LANTERN **
For me personally, the "most difficult" to assess on this record. Fits very well to the wheel, however, is not really a song that will really stick in the long-term memory!
8. Gomper ****
After the start of this great song slides into the unknown and unfortunately ends aimlessly and clumsily somewhere in the nowhere ... but at least shows the beginning of this number again in an impressive way, the creative potential of the band! Listen to it !!
9. 2000 LIGHTYEARS FROM HOME ****
Critics speak at least to even this single, in addition to "She's a Rainbow" a certain level of existence. Deservedly, I would say. The guitar sound, right at the beginning, at that time was a real novelty, almost oversized. A spacey space odyssey in psychedel metallic music noise of a carefree rock 'n roll band that just having fun making music!
10. ON WITH THE SHOW ***
As if it was Mick and Co have already guessed how it would go on ... The show must go on and it is also (and how!). A nice final single that would have fit just as well in the middle of the album. Of course, it was certainly not random, set "On with the show" the end of "Their Satanic Majesties Request" to ...
Finally, I would point out that "Their Satanic Majesties Request" a unique, not himself 100% erntsnehmendes project the Stones was that certainly is more than GE failed again !!
Outstanding is the overall design of the disc. A liquid, interwoven into one another album with some rock riffs and Psychedelliccharakterzügen - the Rolling Stones as the world before (and after) should no longer hear ...
The disc has its uniqueness absolute cult status and should be in every music lovers collection. Stones fans do not come on "Their Satanic Majesties Request" over anyway!
My (subjective) Overall therefore: 4 stars, and deserves !!
