Two examples quickly unearthed from (probably) others:
Page 39: The list of HE "totally prohibited throughout pregnancy and lactation" list Sassafras. But lower, HE "authorized the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy" list also Sassafras! Ms. Festy definitely has concerns proofreading ... Recall that the Sassafras is part of HE prohibited for sale outside pharmacies in France and is obviously forbidden during pregnancy!
Page 52: Mrs Festy recommends a humidifier diffuser to atmospheric scattering while it is common knowledge among experts that these devices are neither humidification nor dissemination of HE correctly. The author speaks well (2-line only!) A more "intense" broadcast with glass diffusers but then always recommend a duration of one hour, which is an aberration and reveals a complete ignorance Use of this pathway ...
The structure of this huge boulder now:
- A brief introduction and relatively superficial. 22 questions rather relevant but sometimes surprising responses, such as the author wrote that HE Bio would not be fundamentally different from the HE-organic as they would 100% pure ... Sure that HE displaying residues pesticides would not do such prestigious but aromatherapists emphasize the importance of quality Bio precisely to avoid this! Ms. Festy so she avoided talking about the wild because quality brands sold in pharmacies are still too often quality "lower" (ie neither wild nor biodynamic or organic)?
- Next comes the presentation of 78 ET. Why not 80 or 75? All these ET will obviously not for everyday use, the investment will result and you will not find them anywhere. But let's go: this is the essence of "bibles" that seem to want to complete. The problem in this case relates to the relatively grim side (austere presentation) and inconvenient (no clear indication of such use patterns!) For the year. No photos, no color ... A true Franciscan monk Bible thus more interested encyclopaedists that practitioners in aromatherapy.
- The bulk of the work (! 350 pages) covers diseases in which the author provides sound advice (hence 2 stars) and a nice presentation including a diagram of the massage areas. On the negative side, numerous synergies are to be realized in pharmacies for mixtures of 4 or 5 with up to 3 HE vegetable oils! Why make it simple when you can make expensive and complicated? Despite the presence of more simple recipes, it will therefore not the most practical book for a family aromatherapy and occasionally there will see again errors (generally linked to the introduction of flaws about the modes use)
Overall, if the size of the book is reassuring and will deceive in the evenings natural theme, Ms. Festy lacks knowledge and rigor of a naturopath aromatherapist to make all relevant. To think that one will master the subject is just as wrong as lacking basic reflection on the different routes and on the precautions related to the biochemical components ... which can nevertheless be found in half of shorter works and / or expensive. Ms. Festy there also remains too "volatile" compared to against-indications of these substances off-standards.
In the end, a work which will therefore neither a reference nor a foundation to begin in aromatherapy but will nevertheless occasionally useful to know the opinion of a pharmacist on caring for base pathologies.
Sincerely,
