Historical novel about the beginnings of printing

After a very early succeeds or it perceives Louis XI with the great poet Francois Villon and in the beginning of the printing environment (Gutenberg is often mentioned) I somehow lost the thread of this book that leaves me slightly on my end. The author's style is flamboyant and perfect french but at times there are lengths. We are a bit lost when the two hunters books are lost around Jerusalem. This book often recalls "The Name of the Rose" but the second part was a bit disappointed. However, we have a great writer and I hasten to order his book precedent "Save Mozart" as its erudition fascinne me!
