Home automation AVM Part 2

AVM FRITZ! DECT 200 (intelligent socket) (tool)

Customer Review

Last updated 30.06.2014

Since about 2011 AVM offers for its FritzBox 7390 to FHEM Server. This software can be for example control the known actuators / sensors of the FS-20 series over the Fritz box.
However, all is not as simple as otherwise AVM accustomed to already requires some experience.
Therefore AVM has probably been working on its own home automation system, which repeater 100 starts with the wireless socket DECT 200 and DECT. Although this is at the beginning not so much (as with RWE SmartHome), but I think it will be as long as the demand is right, sure there are other devices.
The interesting thing about this system is that you do not need new headquarters (which also may be additional WLAN (sturgeon) excludes source. On the other hand it has the advantage does not require any additional control elements such as a remote control, as everything available on the AVM DECT devices like the MT-F can be controlled. Another advantage is that there is no permanent radio link such as the RWE SmartHome system, but there is a connection via DECT is only established when a query by the user is performed.
Anyone who pays attention to radio radiation, which is much better off with this system, on the one hand no permanent wireless connection between the devices and the control center is available, and secondly, there is no other wireless source.

When you open the carton, is on top of it a little multipage manual and under it there is the small compact DECT200.

To report this to the Fritz box 7390/7270 (Version 2/3), pressing there only the DECT button puts the DECT 200 a waits a few seconds and you're connected.
If you set about the outlet times, it will be detected immediately and within 1 2 seconds and the DECT connection light is green. And unlike eg for RWE system has after plugging back their previous state. This function can, however, also reprogram so that they either always off, always on or as I said has its previous state.

And what you can now do with this DECT 200 all?
Well, you can this DECT - Radio outlet in many ways on and off, and measure the consumption of devices connected to this socket consumers.

How can we turn the cans?
==========================
-Einmalig Eg via DECT telephone or web interface (eg with date-time and switching time)

Just a one-off chat and enter -Daily

-Wochentäglich Weekly schedule as WLAN in the 15th minute intervals

-Rhythmisch Intervals of 1/5/10/15/30/45 / 1h / 2h / 3h / 4h / 5h
(Both for the A, as well as the off-state)

-Zufällig- Entry a period (eg vacation), eg 01.01.2013 to 15.05.2013
There you can enter - turn daily to / to quit
And you can also give back different on / off switching times to select:
5/10/15/20/30/40/50/1 hour

"Astronomically" based on the latitude and longitude degree (can be automatically determined by the browser) can be switched.
At sunrise - switching duration
At sunset - Switching time

"Calendar" by Google about calendar items labeled "on" or "off"

How can you turn the can?
============================
-directly at the outlet via LED button
-per AVM DECT handset
-About the surface of the Fritz box
-übers Internet via MyFRITZ

Possibly Updates are other features such as an electrical outlet that is later assigned a specific number possible, and this one simply can per call / code on and off.

Consumption measurements:
=================

You can view consumption measurement of the last 10 minutes, 24 hours, of the month or the year. Similarly, maximum and minimum consumption are displayed.
When one enters the values per kWh, you can read these values directly.
These values can then even be sent to you by mail.

A comparison with the ELV Energy Master energy cost meter confirmed that the measured values of the DECT 200 are very accurate.

The internal power consumption of the DECT 200 is in operation about 1W and 0.7W in standby around

Operation via MT-F
===============

Menu - home network - Smart Home
And already it shows the Fritz actuators. A new DECT 200 is initially as
Fritz DECT 200 # 1 appear. This name is later arbitrarily changeable via web interface.
A line below it shows the current consumption of the connected device.
If you want to further analysis as described above, you can read it via the web interface.

And why I have chosen for this possibly something expensive and currently not yet complete system? On the one hand because I am used to good quality of AVM, ease of use and regular updates with more advanced features. Secondly, because I do not want to run too many different systems side by side, where there is always any minor or major incompatibilities normally.

I have 9 Funksteckdosen ordered and tested the RWE SmartHome system recently. Have it but sent back within a week. The sockets are approximately twice as large as AVM the DECT-200 and can no longer like the DECT 200 also. On the other hand one has to operate an additional WLAN headquarters, which means another WLAN (sturgeon) source. One can Funksteckdosen Although manually operated, but if you want to turn otherwise, then you need a tablet, a laptop, a PC or a mobile phone with an Internet connection and the turn only to a power outlet.
Sure, the RWE SmartHome is indeed not only for radio outlets, but a large comprehensive home automation system. But I think there is nothing that could not AVM also integrate over time. However, with the previously mentioned advantages of ease of handling, for example, via DECT handset. In contrast, there is a lot which can be retrofitted RWE subsequently a lot of effort having to use, for example, triggering via call control via a simple handset without a PC or the Internet or otherwise.

And what benefits have these doses over the radio outlets at the hardware store?
Firstly, the circuit via encrypted DECT instead of the Fritz box by normal 433 or 862 MHz. Who simply buys such doses and inserting who has possibly the misfortune that the neighbor his doses mitschaltet what even happened to me despite händischer recoding. On the other hand, you can turn these doses also remotely via the Internet. So you can, for example, a PC (if it is set correctly in the BIOS) is connected to this socket, turn on via the Internet, to access it remotely and then shut down again.

The only limitation I see currently that you can embed in the system currently seems to only 10 of such doses. But maybe that will be expanded.

In addition to 6 DECT phones and the 10 DECT 200 can operate even 6 DECT Repeater.

So who (currently) no extensive home automation needs, which meets with AVM certainly a good choice. Who something would involve, however, additional heating thermostats, smoke detectors, window detector or who can look at the RWE SmartHome system.

Update 24.01.2013
There is an update to the DECT 200 version 02.98. The main menu of the actuators is now divided into 2 groups:
Up first come only the switching functions of the actuators, and the power displays are arranged below!
So as not to start with where each actuator both the switching function and the power meter stand.

Update 07.02.2013
Hm, just struck me when programming a DECT 200, that in the type of program "Week Daily" only max. Can enter 40 switching times. If, more, an error message such as appears

"The maximum permissible switching time points of 40 is exceeded. The current weekly schedule includes 56 switching instants"

Update 04/04/2013 Built-in microphone and temperature sensor

Interestingly, what some users so all find out: When unscrewing the DECT200, one discovers on the board a small condenser microphone. A microphone on a wireless socket? Clear, so could AVM later if needed retrofit a gossip switch or a baby-phone function for example. In home networking guide the magazine Connect from 02/04/2013 to the following is said:

Speaking sophisticated: Before the introduction of FritzDECT 200 AVM had hinted that the intelligent socket could also support sensor functions for temperature or volume in the future. The required sensor hardware is already installed in FritzDECT 200. Whether they actually used in future versions of the software, however, is still open. Concrete promises to do not want to give AVM anyway. According to connect the built-in microphone might be more to life than the temperature sensor.

Something like there is the MT-F there an IR LED is built, but until now has no function. Via software update AVM could eg retrofit a remote control function here.

Update 20/06/2014

This is it - with the new update of the Fritz box, the temperature sensors are used and the DECT200 on the Smart Home Overview the respective temperature appears. (-> See customer pictures)
