The reader knows the killer and guess the motive but the interest of the book will be in the downward spiral of Adam and his personal investigation.
What I really liked in this novel is the intensity of the characters. They are described with many details about their personal lives and the reader is thus immersed in the social fabric. Everyone has a story, and the characters are built through the chapters. We know small details on each (illness CEO of the pharmaceutical company, disappointed love of the young policewoman, rebellious side of her father's love for his dog's murderer, difficult life Mhouse and his son Ly on ...). You really get to know them and their destiny overlap the pages.
The strength of the book lies also in the geographical and social description of this area of London. The description of the homelessness of Adam, his downfall anonymity to show us the disadvantaged (Church of Christ and John Shaft). In contrast, we also discover the environments of the pharmaceutical industries who brew a lot of money without worrying about public health.
The style, meanwhile, is very rich with an elaborate vocabulary but also some speech tailored to media described. Construction is masterful with a plot that gradually becomes richer. The end, however, suggests several possibilities for the reader.
In conclusion, I spent a great time reading through all of the characters and the plot in the modern pharmaceutical industry.
