I bought Chromecast my own movies and photos to present on the TV, and Youtube videos and tape.tv to stream. The entry was frustrating because my Chromecast had an absurd old software version and I found no information on how forced the update. The problem then let go of myself when I was Chromecast alone for a while. The device then automatically updated. Now at last I could also play movies and photos. If it works, it works well. Sometimes you have the TV but reboot as Chromecast is no longer recognized by the smartphone. Funnily enough though Backdrop (an application images from the network, or your own display as a slide show on the TV) still works. Likewise, the smartphone and the TV still have WLAN access. What I also liked a lot, is the "Cast Screen" function that outputs continuously the screen and the audio signal of your smartphone on the TV. The sound transmission is something hakelig but "Cast Screen" is also performed as a Beta (Note for non-technicians. The software is still in testing phase). Just a note about Backdrop. Unfortunately, you had your own images available only in his Google+ account make (upload). Here you have to make absolutely sure that the images are not public (public viewable) are provided online. Unless you want to explicitly state that every person on earth can see the images. As Backdrop by the permanent download also cost bandwidth, it would be great if Google would support streaming over the wireless network addition. Conclusion: Although Chromecast is not perfect, I would buy the device immediately.
