All the more surprising, than in 2009 suddenly appeared the God & Guns. Ean Evans died, just as Billy Powell, and suddenly at that time still a new CD out.
God & Guns marked in terms of songwriting from my perspective some new beginning, what what was certainly due to the loss of Thomasson and Powell.
Everything was of course still typical Lynyrd Skynyrd away with all trademarks that are on this band as a fan just estimates, but it was a little slice of previous typical Southern Rock.
When Lynyrd Skynyrd could especially immmer hear the crystal clear guitars, which were mixed with no frills forward; Synths and strings or rarely gabs actually.
In that regard, made God & Guns a first small beginning, amplifies on the new CD again somewhat.
One in advance: "Last Of The Dyin Breed" is again a good, even made a very good piece of music.
Personally, I miss the old sound a little bit, but can live well in the quality of the music.
Songs like the opener, the fantastic One More At A Time, the beautiful ballad Ready To Fly, the melodic rock LifeŽs Twisted, the bonus Boogie Do It Right Up, the magnificent Swamper HoneyHole or the country bonfire finale Start Living Life Again Write a few bands. Basically more than Classic Rock Southern Rock, but it is par excellence.
The rest like consistently, there is no failures, the Sad Song, Mississippi Blood and Something To Live For there another 3 really good songs.
The Gitarenarbeit is consistently superb and van Zant a singer, as there are very few, the songs have melodies and rock at the right measure going well, the ballads are harmonious and soulful.
If Lynyrd Skynyrd continues like this, I still hope for a few more CDs. As far as I push the guys fingers crossed that the new plant is similar, it outsold its predecessor. Road Runner Records have been done correctly with Skynyrd everything.
Actually, I'd like to give 4 stars against the background of the overall creation of the band. Given the CDs that have appeared this year, there is a smooth 5 star rating!
