The Beasties I have been following since my early school years (-zwar not since the 80s but at least since the early 90s), which is enough for me personally to be able to say, I grew up with them. Hello Nasty and especially the track "Intergalactic" seemed even slightly fallen asleep and though still extremely funky and raw, but the air was light out. Sure, but just a little dusty on a very high level. Therefore, I have always been grateful to the Beasties when they have done something that you did not expect the next step. Since two instrumental albums (-the I among the best hip-hop instrumental / radio-counting slices that I know of) in between came out, there was an entire album as a free download Accapella etc.pp. To the five boroughs has me personally if somehow unusually serious and left for this group almost too reputable texts something untouched and the music behind the rape itself was not so enormously creative. Then came up with this disc but the unexpected Hammer: incredibly fresh sounding sound, which could be a second Pauls Boutique in reality. The creaking synthesizers, the shredding drums, the voices are distorted, everything is raw, yet controlled, extremely well arranged and the lyrics are witty as ever. The guys sound neither tired nor creatively burnt out. The coolest is the 20-30 minute video, which was produced for the album. Is likely to be extremely matter of taste, but I was deliciously amused and found 'the humor delightfully absurd and Beasty-Boys'esque.
That may be missing on this record the hits, but this does not bother, because pretty much dripping all tracks in front of radio and possess high Wiederhörwert. The best moments are Nonstop Disco Powerpack, Too Many Rappers and Lee Majors Come Again for me. The complete album can be achieved by listening to one, and I got that thing often just started again from scratch.
What have become disappointed for a nice surprise, but after (and much more Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, G'n'R.) Me almost all of my musical child and youth safety heroes, the Beastie Boys are the ones that so far most consistent creative have come, very musical and not repetitive output without too much to sink in experiments. May be due to that only the Beasties sound like the Beasties. Since no one has been just taken its place.
Fairly plain sailing - who liked things like Pauls Boutique, Check Your Head, etc., which is not only how to fulfill its costs but also be surprised at how much you can remember its roots without being forced acts.
