KILLING STRANGERS 10/10
The song opens with sluggish percussion inserts and a few electronic elements. After the existence of guitars is proved Manson decreases very dark, almost tortured. Both the verses, and the chorus are kept very minimalistic. The song is indeed counterintuitive, but rather sinister. I felt a little reminiscent of the second half of the high end of low with some MECHANICAL ANIMAL-strikes at the first listening test. Want interesting, especially as an opener, swept a first round anyway not really. However, the song grows over time until it relentlessly settles after a few Hördurchgängen in the head. Perhaps as an opener would rather a song suitable that is catchy enough to grab the listener directly. So at first hearing gives the impression KILLING STRANGERS is an average song, but this is not so. After all, the theatricality, which is accompanied by the voltage slowly generated, is second to none. Be sure to repeatedly hear, then KILLING STRANGERS is an absolute treat!
DEEP SIX 10/10
After a very electronic intro and a brief Gitarrenhinführung Antichrist gets going, only quietly, then roaring way. Stylistically, the song can perhaps compare with the previous album HEYCRUEL WORLD. Full steam ahead and right emotions's proceeds also. However, what I find rather interesting, is that the song incredibly catchy, almost pop comes despite the described hardness. A song as I wish it to me by Manson nowadays. Had good found in THE GOLDEN AGE OF GROTESQUE or Born Villain place.
THIRD DAY OF A SEVEN DAY BINGE 9/10
Here we have already arrived at the first single. A quiet, rather melancholy-sounding song that is catchy nonetheless. Is it possible to hear super incidentally, but also like to enjoy at full volume. Although a not particularly creative food is served here, the song does not work boring. THIRD DAY OF A SEVEN DAY BINGE looks more extremely fluid and easy. The many samples blend perfectly with bass & guitar. No pure innovation, but a first getting used to listening pleasure.
THE Mephistopheles OF LOS ANGELES 10/10
Another quiet early, then pop samples, and a change of pace. Again merge samples and guitar motifs again outstanding. Somewhat reminiscent of The Flowers of Evil from its predecessor. The chorus is exciting and great fun, which will make sure paid in the forthcoming concerts of The Hell Not Hallelujah Tour. Just like during the songs described so far, there is little aggressive or extravagant to admire, but the song ignites easily and remains in the ear!
WARSHIP WRECK MY 9/10
The track starts with Samples in simple four-four time, to an electronic melody track and an antichrist in vocal best. After a short pause, the song continues at a similar pace continues now with Guitar & Drums. The song is indeed cumbersome but has an almost epic sounding undertone might here be drawn comparisons to CHILDREN OF CAIN, even if said song sound even more depressed. WARSHIP WRECK MY continues to strive cumbersome continued, somehow like the concept, but just as it did in THIRD DAY OF A SEVEN DAY BINGE and KILLING STRANGERS there is little exciting to see. Although the bother now & not in detail and also WARSHIP WRECK MY is a good song, but you would still want a little more variety.
SLAVES ONLY DREAM TO BE KING 9/10
When intro is this time a speech by Martin Luther King before a hard riff begins. Manson sings and cries, like Antichrist Superstar times. The chorus is a bit less hard, but all the more sinister. It will continue to excerpts interspersed by speeches, alternating with Manson's imploring vocals. In addition still some samples and you've got another special case of song, as it can only come from Marilyn Manson!
THE DEVIL BENEATH MY FEET 9/10
Drums & Bass to serve as an introduction, again with an electronic touch. Very catchy, but again very minimalist. The average rate contributes significantly to brand recognition at, but especially the calmer parts ensure attention. THE DEVIL BENEATH MY FEET perhaps has a sinister title, but the song sounds very positive and quite trendy. Ultimately, an exceptionally good rock song that certainly invites to sing along and nod.
BIRDS OF HELL AWAITING 3/10
After a rather disturbing entry, due to distorted screams and electronic gadgetry, followed by a slow, somber song, which consists almost exclusively of drums, electronics and vocals before using a minimum of guitar work. BIRDS OF HELL AWAITING runs continuously so, but offers little that would be a nomination worth more than the cruel distortion of Manson's song, but not in a good way. Only towards the end of the song knows how to please the interplay between bass, electronics and vocals. Nevertheless: First failure, rather weak.
CUPID CARRIES A GUN 10/10
Most likely the song indeed be a household name since the publication of the trailer SALEM, now you can finally admire the song, however, in its entire length. The minimalist principle of previous songs persists, plus there is an eerily beautiful melody and a nice beat. Manson's evocative vocals fit perfectly into the sound and makes for an incredibly tight atmosphere. The song was made for grim-inspired television productions à la SALEM. Still less is sometimes more, and I'm glad that Manson has adhered to this rule of thumb and us so serves up a terrific song, which is one of the best that has ever served us from Ohio from parents Schreck.
ODDS OF EVEN 6/10
First, you can hear children screaming in the background, laughing, then another somber melody, very viscous the whole. Nevertheless ODDS OF EVEN has a certain appeal. This is caused by a small, but fine tune that could be even more soundtrack to a Tim Burton film. Unfortunately, the song increases only in terms of volume. It lacks, the moment in which a new melody, a brutal riff or a new beat starts. The variety is lacking and therefore splashes of song to himself. ODDS OF EVEN is not a good song, just a good idea. After all, a good, but still it's a shame that the Pale EMPEROR completed so uninspired.
CONCLUSION
THE PALE EMPEROR continues what has been anticipated by Born Villain: Marilyn Manson is on the right track its reputation as an exceptional artist to work for EAT ME DRINK ME and the high end of low finally back. Where the high end of low sounded put something, THE PALE EMPEROR is full of authenticity and where EAT ME DRINK ME still threatened a tacky-sticky Autobiography of Brian Hugh Warner to be, to the Pale EMPEROR concentrates on the essentials: The Music , You can clearly hear that Manson delivers exactly what he wants to deliver and fortunately that's an honest album that mainly combines elements of blues and of electronic music. This may sound weird, and I find it also not a single body of work of any artist one that sounds similar, but the Pale EMPEROR acts conclusive and meaningful in itself. Because of the unique mix of genres is based on an incredibly crude & depressive atmosphere that is rarely broken. Unfortunately, there is also a failure on the Pale EMPEROR and a song that does not completely realize its potential and (BIRDS [] and ODDS OF EVEN). However, these are often overlooked in the sight of the rest of the songs. There will certainly be some disgruntled fans who can come up with the new style not arrange, but purely qualitative one finds here the best Manson album since THE GOLDEN AGE OF Grotesque where even this is perhaps provided by the Pale EMPEROR to shame. Ultimately remains an album that the final return of the Antichrist Superstars marked. Different again and probably again polarizing as ever.
